The air was crisp and cool as you walked hand in hand with Millie Bright through the bustling streets of London. The two of you had decided to spend the day exploring the city, enjoying each other's company and the vibrant energy of the urban landscape.
As you wandered through the crowded streets, you couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment settle over you. With Millie by your side, everything seemed brighter, more alive.
But just as you were beginning to lose yourself in the moment, a voice called out from behind you, breaking the spell of tranquillity.
"Millie! Is that you?"
You turned to see an old acquaintance approaching, a look of surprise on their face as they spotted Millie.
"Hey there," Millie greeted with a friendly smile, her grip on your hand tightening ever so slightly.
The acquaintance's eyes flickered between the two of you, a knowing smirk playing at their lips. "So, who's this lucky gal?" they asked, nodding towards you with a teasing glint in their eye.
You opened your mouth to reply, but before you could utter a word, Millie spoke up, her voice steady and confident.
"Oh, this is Y/N," she said, her tone casual as she gestured towards you. "My fiancée."
Your eyes widened in surprise, your heart skipping a beat at the unexpected declaration. Fiancée? You and Millie had been together for a while now, but the topic of marriage had never come up before.
The acquaintance's jaw dropped in disbelief, their eyes darting between you and Millie in shock. "Wait, you're engaged?" they exclaimed, their voice tinged with disbelief.
Millie nodded, a small smile playing at her lips as she squeezed your hand affectionately. "Yep, that's right," she said, her gaze never leaving yours.
You couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth at Millie's words, the realisation sinking in that she had just declared her love for you in front of someone from her past. It was unexpected, to say the least, but it filled you with a sense of joy unlike anything you had ever felt before.
As the acquaintance stuttered out their congratulations and hurriedly excused themselves, you turned to Millie with a mixture of awe and gratitude.
"I can't believe you told them you were my fiancée," you said, your voice filled with wonder.
Millie smiled, her eyes sparkling with affection. "Well, it's not like it's not true," she replied, her tone light and playful. "And who knows? Maybe one day it will be."
With those words hanging in the air between you, you and Millie continued on your journey through the city, hand in hand, the promise of a future together shining bright in your hearts.
