God it was fucking hot in Melbourne. Why was this the first race of the season? I just finished texting my assistant to bring me some necessities, when suddenly out of nowhere my body collided with another. My instant reaction was to prevent the body from falling, so I quickly wrapped one hand around her waist and the other on her lower back as she was close to hitting the ground. It took me a moment to even realize what was happening but once I steadied her I took a good look at her.

She was stunning to say the least. She had gorgeous green eyes and long brown hair which was nicely curled. We stood like that for a whole minute before she looked up at me and I could see a blush spreading across her cheeks. Did she work here? Was she a fan? She had on a Mercedes hat and paddock pass, so maybe she was somehow associated with them.

"Are you okay love?" I asked her.

She looked confused and I probably realized she was trying to figure out what just happened. I didn't mean to call her love, but it was impossible not to because she was so beautiful.

She smiled a little bit and nodded at me, "thank you so much, I'm sorry I wasn't looking where I was going."

I quickly responded, "No, no, it was my fault. I was texting and walking, clearly I'm the daredevil here." She giggled.

She pushed back a piece of hair behind her ear and kinda squinted her eyes staring at me. She almost looked at me like she thought I was familiar.

She had a slight accent and I couldn't exactly tell where she was from. I realized I still had my hand on her lower back and quickly removed it. Someone called out "Eleni" and and she turned her head towards them.

"Sorry have to run, nice to meet you!" she said and quickly disappeared towards the garage. So she's Eleni and has something to do with Mercedes...interesting.

I made my way back to the McLaren garage to get ready for qualifying and saw Oscar standing by his car. "Hey mate, excited for your first race with McLaren in F1?" I asked him.

He was buzzing from all the excitement but he could tell I was pretty nervous too. His family was in his garage for the weekend cheering him on, as was mine. My friends from Quadrant were also here to support me. The entire time he was talking I couldn't help but think of the stranger Eleni again. I cut myself immediately...No stop Lando, you have no time for distractions.

I got a random text from George in our group chat with Alex saying that he had someone he wanted us to meet after the race. Weird, but I sent him a thumbs up and wishing them both good luck. I scrolled for a few more minutes just to calm myself down. The first race of the season was always unexpected, but it set a tone for the remainder of the season.

My trainer let me know I needed to get into the car and prepare for the start. My dad gave me a give hug and I made my way into the car. I counted down in my head and began to steady my breathing. We lined up at the start line and all I could focus on were the lights. I'm ready to prove myself with McLaren. I know I have a win this year, I could feel it. I've worked so hard to get this far.

LIGHTS OUT! I hit the gas and jolted forward. I felt a rush of adrenaline course through my veins and I began to push even harder.

"And look at that, Norris brilliantly overtakes Stroll in the turn on lap 34, earning him P3! His teammate is doing a great job of defending the other Aston Martin. And look at that, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc pushing his way through the ranks, currently sitting at P2." "Marty, I can't believe this. For the first time ever we have such an unexpected podium for the first race of the season. AND LOOK AT THAT, CHARLES LECLERC WINS THE 2019 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX!! Following him is Mercedes George Russell, and in P3, we have McLaren golden boy, Lando Norris!"
