⚠️ 18+ slightly spicy scene, warning will be given where it starts (at the end)
------------------------------------------It's media day in Silverstone, and while there's an buzz in the air, today it's mixed with my own exhaustion. My body still feels the weight of last night, a mix of sleeplessness and quiet moments that I wouldn't trade for the world with my boyfriend.
I catch myself smiling at the memory and then push it to the back of my mind. No time for that now...I need to focus. I throw my bag over my shoulder and make my way through the crowds. Everyone seems to be here...journalists, fans already lining the fences, and the usual mix of engineers and team members rushing around.
Silverstone has always held a special place in my heart, and the anticipation around this race is contagious. I can't help but feed off that energy, even if I'm running on lack of sleep and a sore body.
As I make my way through the sea of Red Bull blue, I hear my name being called from across the paddock. I wave at a couple of our engineers, flashing a smile. Max will probably notice...I'm sure he'll make some snarky comment about my 'wild night out' even though he has no idea what I was really up to.
He'll tease, and I'll fire right back, just like always. But today isn't about him or whatever's going on behind the scenes of my personal life. It's about feeling the thrill of racing at one of the most iconic circuits, where every turn is unexpected. Being one of two females on the grid, it's exciting to have the opportunity to race here for the first time.
My exhaustion fades a little at the thought. Yeah, I'm tired, but it's that good kind of tired, the kind that comes from feeling like you're right where you're supposed to be. I pull open the door to the media center, knowing it was game on. Time to put on the charm, answer the questions, and play the part.
As I fix my Red Bull cap, I remind myself that I'm here because I love this. The rush, the competition, the way every moment on the track feels like flying. I barely have time to drop my bag off before my PR manager, is at my side, clutching her clipboard like it holds the secrets of the universe. Her heels click against the floor as she walks by my side, a determined look in her eyes.
The caffeine is finally kicking in, but I know I'll need every bit of it to keep up with her today. "Sophie, we've got a busy morning ahead," she says, glancing down at the clipboard. "First up is a lie detector game with Max. You're going up against the Ferrari boys...Charles and Carlos. Should be good fun, and it's got a ton of fan engagement."
I raise an eyebrow at the mention of the game. "A lie detector? Seriously? Who thought that was a good idea?" I joke, though there's a part of me that's intrigued.
These media events can either be hilarious or downright cringeworthy, and I'm hoping for the former. Knowing Max, he'll lean into the chaos, and I can't help but wonder how the Ferrari boys will handle it. She gives me a knowing smile. "Think of it as...entertainment for the fans. And you know how competitive it gets when Red Bull and Ferrari go head to head, even off track."
She's right. The rivalry between Red Bull and Ferrari is always in the air, a kind of playful but intense tension. I can already imagine Max's smirk as he tries to trip up Charles, and Carlos's easy going laughter as he tries to keep the peace. And me? I'm already planning my counterattacks.
I let out a small laugh, shaking my head. "Okay, okay. Bring it on. It'll be fun seeing what they try to catch us out on. But if Max and I end up spilling all of Red Bull's secrets, I'm blaming you."
