"Lando you've got to get into the car, the race is starting."
"Ok, ok. But I need you to tell me if you get a call or message from Lina. It's not like her to not answer my calls."
Lando left his phone behind with one of his engineers, who carelessly flipped his phone down and put it away, not giving it a second thought. He didn't mean to, but he was immediately called in for a final data check. As Lando entered into his car, he shut his eyes. Something was feeling off, something he couldn't quite put his finger on, but all he could do was focus on the race and figure it out after. He'd be flying right back to Monaco after this race.
Meanwhile back in the darkest depths of the McLaren garage, Lando's phone was flashing, an unrecognizable caller ID splashed across the screen. Vibrating for a few moments before the call cut, a chilling voicemail was left.
"Hello you've reached Lando, sorry I could't answer your call. Please leave a message and I will get back to you when I can. Cheers"
"Mr. Norris, this is Anna calling to inform you that Miss LaRusso has been admitted to Princess Grace Hospital. She was involved in an accident and you were listed as her emergency contact. Please call us upon receiving this message, it's extremely urgent."
A Few Hours Prior, Monaco
Lina LaRusso, the longtime girlfriend of Lando, was out and about in the shops with her mother and Lando's mother, Cisca. The trio were enjoying a lazy Sunday in Monte Carlo, having an afternoon sweet treat and doing what they considered 'some light' shopping.
Lina was unable to join Lando for the Austin GP due to a work event, so she figured she'd enjoy the free day with her mom and Cisca, who was visiting. Lando had encouraged Cisca to fly out to Monaco for a few days and spend time with Lina. He got her the nicest hotel and even some spa appointments to use with Lina.
Looking at her watch, with the time difference, it was likely that Lando was still asleep, so Lina didn't bother messaging him yet. She missed him tremendously, as it had been a double header and she hadn't seen him in 2 weeks.
