------------------------------------------------Adrianna Santi had only been working for Ferrari for a few months, a new addition to Carlos' engineering team. The bright twenty-five year old had quickly moved up the ranks in the Formula One world, first interning with Mercedes before getting this offer.
She was grateful for the opportunity to work with one of the most historical racing teams. She was shy and pretty reserved. She worked a hybrid schedule, only traveling to local European races in the calendar. When she wasn't joining the team onsite, she worked at headquarters in Maranello.
Adrianna lived a simple life. She had endured so much, so young, which had made her so quiet. At the age of twenty-two she had gotten pregnant by her abusive ex-boyfriend, who decided he wasn't ready for fatherhood, leaving her alone and unprepared. He'd still come around, making Adrianna relocate to Italy with her mum so he wouldn't find her. With the help of her mum, she did her best to give her three year old daughter Nora, the best life she could. She became independent and didn't rely on anyone after her boyfriend destroyed her. She vowed to never let herself feel like that again, blinded by love...toxic love.
Charles Leclerc had taken an immediate interest in Adrianna, after being introduced to her during a team debrief at headquarters. Something about the way she didn't look at him any different because of what he did or his status. She looked at him for him and that was something he was not willing to give up so easily. She was sweet and her smile pulled at his heartstrings. Charles was a grade A loverboy who wore he heart on his sleeve.
They had some casual conversations here and there whenever he could see her in the paddock or whenever he and Carlos were in Maranello. Charles learned she had a daughter named Nora, who as apparently his biggest fan. He loved the way her face lit up when she would talk about Nora or show the team pics. He knew she was a good mum. It only made him more infatuated with her. Charles was impressed with Adrianna, being able to balance being a young mum and working as a high level Ferrari engineer.
The past week he had made lots of progress in attempting to get to know Adrianna, since he was in Maranello the entire week. She even told him he could call her by her nickname, Adri. He felt that she was starting to warm up to him despite being blown-off by her on other occasions. He'd always try to make light jokes or flirt with her, but she kept it strictly professional, most of the time. As much as she tried, it was pretty impossible to resist the charm of Ferrari's golden boy.
Charles picked up whenever Adrianna would let herself relax, before closing up again. He feared she probably was like this as a result of a bad breakup or bad ex. His heart ached for her and despite hardly knowing her, he wanted to protect her. He felt as if there was an invisible strong tying him to her. He had never felt two strongly about someone he only briefly knew.
Today was the last day he'd spend before roadtripping back to Monaco. He said his goodbyes to Carlos who was heading back to Madrid, until the next race. It was the end of the day and Charles had passed by Adrianna's workstation, hoping to catch her before she left. He didn't know why his feet dragged him to her station, he just ended up there. He looked around awkwardly, but it seemed majority of the employees had left for the day.
He sneakily asked one of the receptionists if Adrianna had left for the day, before finding out she had just swiped out of the building. He jogged towards the parking garage, spotting her putting her bag into the backseat of her car.
"Hey Adri, wait up!"
"Oh hello Charles. Sorry did I forget something, were we supposed to go over something before the end of the day?"
