"NOOOOOO!!! FUCKING HELL NOOO!!" George's voice came over the radio. I just watched my boyfriend go from P1 to spinning out in the final two laps. I winced hearing him react like that, I was devastated. From winning in Austria, it was promising for him to win here in Silverstone as well. All he wanted to do was get  podium at his home race and now due to a hydraulics issue, it had been taken away from him in the blink of an eye.

"Croft would you look at that? One Mercedes out after getting so close, the other crossing the finish line..making history! LEWIS HAMILTON WINS THE SILVERSTONE GRAND PRIX!!!"

The entire Mercedes garage broke out into celebrations, Toto jumping up and down like a kid on Christmas Day. While I was happy for my friend, my heart sunk for my boyfriend. He wanted this more than ever. He was so close and I knew he'd beat himself up about it for letting it slip through his fingers in the final laps.

I watched him pull his car into the pitlane, while his entire side of the garage was quiet. They knew he'd be in a bad mood, so no one pressed him. He pulled himself out and made a beeline for his drivers room, not even bothering to take his helmet or gear off.

As he walked by me, I expected him to ask me to come with him, but he just walked right by me, hardly acknowledging my existence.

"George, wait!" I called after him, attempting to grab his arm.

He didn't turn around, he kept going. I figured it was probably best to give him his space and cool off. There was no point of trying to console him when his mind was still clouded. George hardly ever was mad or upset, but today was understandable. I found myself being pulled by one of the engineers towards the podium to see Lewis.

It was magnetic watching Mercedes and Lewis win their home race. The fans were loud, proud and energetic. While I still felt horrible for George, it was impossible not to be happy for Lewis, watching him up there, lifting his trophy with tears in his eyes.

Once things settled down, we all headed back to Mercedes. I went to knock on George's drivers door, only to reveal he wasn't in there. "George?" I called out. Maybe he had gone to the podium after all.

"Lex, hey!"

"Lewis!!!! Congratulations on an amazing win!" I yelled while he lifted me into a tight hug.

"George in there? Wanted to let him know how sorry I was for his car loosing control."

"Um, no. I was actually looking for him as well. I'll let him know once I find him. Go enjoy your celebrations!"

He kissed my cheek and let me know he'd see us later tonight. I couldn't find George in hospitality, the data center or anywhere in the paddock. I finally went back to the garage to see if his engineer knew where he was.

"Oh hey Alexis, George headed back already. He left directly after his media interviews. I thought you had gone with him."

"Oh, thanks Marcus, no I think he assumed I had left already too" I lied.

George had left me behind. I blinked back tears, attempting to find a taxi service on my phone app. I tried calling him from the car, but he wouldn't answer.

Once I got back to out hotel room, I expected him to be there since Marcus said he left the track already. I called his name out, to reveal an empty room. I sent him several texts asking where he was, as I was starting to get worried.

Three hours had passed since the race ended. I spent the time waiting for George, getting ready. There was a team celebration for Lewis' win and majority of the Mercedes team was going. I assumed George would still be a team player and show up to support him, but it was already nearing 8pm without a word or sign from him. My worry was turning into anger.
