(C'est La Vie)
"I say we put a pickaxe in his head and the dead girls and be done with it." Daryl insensitively says as we all look at him in disbelief.
"Is that what you'd want if it were you?" Shane asks.
"Yeah. And I'd thank you while you did it."
Dale speaks up at Daryl's statement. "I hate to say it —I never thought I would but maybe Daryl's right."
"Jim's not a monster Dale." Rick shakes his head while I look around our group in disbelief. "Or some rabid dog."
Dale raises his hands in surrender. "I-I'm not suggesting—"
"He's a sick man." Rick cuts him off. "He's sick. We start down that road, where do we draw the line?"
"The lines pretty clear. Zero tolerance for walkers. Or them to be." Daryl states matter-of-factly, and I shake my head at the group. This group is broken.
I walk away from them as Shane starts talking about Fort Benning for the 100th time since the apocalypse started. I walk to Glenn who's sitting against a tree a little bit away from everyone else.
"Hey." I smile at him as he looks up at me, and he returns the smile with a slightly sadder one.
"You okay?" I ask him and I sit down next to him.
"Gotta be." I shake my head. "No, you don't."
He looks at me and shrugs slightly so I continue talking. "You're allowed to be sad ya know. All this- "
I gesture to the camp. "-it's a lot, a lot for anyone so don't give me all the 'I can't be sad.' Bullshit everyone is giving me. Talk to me. God knows I'm good as listening, hell, I just gave a speech to Rick a half hour ago." He laughs and I smile at the fact he's not looking as depressed as he was .2 seconds ago."I'm not kidding." I shake my head and he laughs a little more. "I believe you." We both laugh and after a few seconds he starts by asking. "Do you think we should've been here? Like, that if we were it would've been different?" I run my tongue over my teeth before shaking my head.
"No. No I don't think so. I think if Amy hadn't gone to the R.V she wouldn't have gotten bit, or if Ed hadn't have been an asshole and sentenced to 'tent time' he'd have still been here. For better or for worse I'm not sure." I say the last bit under my breath so only he can hear me and nobody passing by could.
"But I'm not sure us staying here would've changed anything, if we hadn't went with Rick I think those 'vatos' would've shot him on site. We wouldn't have gotten the guns. And without the guns I don't think we'd have gotten through this the way we did, instead of losing half the camp all of us would be dead. It could've been a lot worse.""And I'm suppose to be the optimist of the group." He mumbles and I laugh. "Yeah. You're a 'glass half full kinda guy' right?" Remembering his words to Rick back when we had first met him. Glenn laughed and I pulled him into a hug. "Ah don't worry. Plenty of a time to be optimistic but for now you can look at the unfortunate side of things with me." I smile sarcastically and he pushes me off of him. "As tempting as it sounds. I'll stick to sulking by myself." He says as he stands up, I furrow my eyebrows and put a hand over my heart —or what I had thought was my heart. "Ouch." Glenn rolled his eyes and moved my head to the left side of my chest —where my heart actually was. "That's your heart by the way." I flip him off and take his extended hand to get myself off the ground. And just in time might I add because just as we stood up Daryl lunged for Jim with a pickaxe, resulting in Rick putting his gun to Daryl's head.
"We don't kill the living!" Rick shouts as Glenn and I get closer. "Yeah? That's funny coming from the man who just put a gun to my head!"
"We may disagree on some things, but not on this. You put it down." Shane tells him, raising his own shotgun to Daryl's head.
Daryl slams the pickaxe down inches away from Jim making both Jim himself and I flinch. Rick goes over and takes Jim by his arm.
"Where are you taking me?" Jim asks panicked by the last events that occurred two seconds ago.
"Somewhere safe." Rick walked past me and into the R.V.
———————————————————————————I'm sitting on the bonnet of one of the cars with Glenn and T-dog standing to the side of us. The three of us having nothing to do except wait for Andrea to do something before Amy turns. By this point I've accepted the fact that Andrea might be waiting for Amy to turn before killing her, for god knows what reason.
"How long d'you think she's got?" I ask the other two who seem to be doing the same as me. Watching.
"I give it 5 minutes. 7 at a push." T-dog answer seeming as insensitive as I must've sounded.
"She's been there all night." Glenn says with concern in his voice. Different from 'T' and I. We both just want to move on from here ASAP.
I take my eyes off Andrea and notice Shane and Rick talking again. I roll my eyes knowing exactly what Shane was going on about.
"I swear to god. If he's talking about Fort benning again." T-dog and Glenn both look to where my eyes were focused and T-dog laughs."What else would they be talking about? I swear most of Shane's wet dreams are about Fort Benning." He says with a laugh. "Yeah that and Lori." I lean closer to him as I say that under my breath assuring that it was just him that heard it.
So far nobody had seemed to catch on that Shane and Lori had been doing it ever since Rick had presumably 'died' at the beginning. Eel nobody except Daryl, T-dog and I and we all found the situation quite amusing now that Rick was back and Lori had been giving Shane the cold shoulder. But our conversation is short-lived as a growling is heard from Andrea's direction.
"Oh great. If we had bet on if you'd have won." I patted T-dog on the shoulder before he walked away, closer to the pair like everyone else had. I stayed seated, my legs were dying after digging so many graves.
I watched as Amy reached out to try scratch Andrea. Until eventually Andrea pulled the trigger and shot her in the head. Her walker Body falling limp to the floor as everyone around me all visibly relaxed, relived that one part of our problem was over, now all we had to do was help Jim.
If he could be helped.
———————————————————————————A/N: Okay like how is this so far cause honestly I'm just winging it here. I have no idea if this is a big load of shit or if it's actually decent. I'd like to think it's not shit but you never know.
