(Love hurts)

(Glenn's POV)
"Maggie-" I tried, but she just kept walking away. "Maggie, just talk to me."

She abruptly turned around to face me. I were Hailie I would've made a smart remark about how quickly she turned but I let the opportunity pass.

"Give me your hat." She instructed and I look at her in confusion.

"You said talk to you, I'm talking to you. Give me your hat."

"Okay?" I took my head off and watched as she took an egg out of her basket, placed it in the hat and smashed it on top of my head.

"Why would you waste an egg like that?" I asked as I wiped egg yolk off my eyes in disgust.

"I think it was rotten." And with that she walked away.

Seconds later I heard someone laugh and when I looked up Hailie was stood against the side of the house. A prominent bruise on the side of her face from where Shane had hit her.

"You're in kind of a sticky situation there, aren't you?" She asked with an amused smile. "What'd you do, lose a fight to a chicken?"

"Tried to talk to Maggie. She smashed an egg on my head."

"Clearly." She laughed and walked over to me. "C'mon, I'll help you wash it off." She took the hat off my head and proceeded to walk to the R.V.

Hailie's been sort of quiet with me since what happened with the pharmacy run, more specifically what Maggie and I had told her. For a while I thought I had offended her by saying all that, but it was true, she didn't get taken seriously in the group and the more she doesn't do anything about it, the more frequent it becomes. Her hitting Shane earlier today was something I never thought she'd do. Shane always pissed her off and she still acted like he didn't bother her. So, seeing her elbow Shane on the face was amazing, in my opinion. Who knew an 18 year old could kick a 32 year old guys ass?

"what did you even say to make her this pissed at you?" She asked me as she started to pour water over my head. I tried to ignore the feeling I got when she ran her fingers through my hair. We're just friends. Just friends.

"I asked her to talk to me. But I think she's still annoyed at us because we told the group about the barn."

"Yep, that'd be a valid reason to hold a grudge."

"That was a hell of a hit by the way." I smiled upon hearing her laugh.

"Yeah? should've broke his fucking nose."

I laughed at her bluntness before remembering that she hasn't been talking to me lately. "So, you're not mad at me for what I said after the pharmacy incident?"

"Why would I be mad? Y'all just told me your opinion."

"It's not an opinion, it's facts." I told her as I lifted my head back up and started to dry my hair with the towel she handed to me.

"Yeah, keep saying shit like that and I will be mad." She tapped my shoulder as she walked past me.

I debated on calling her name to get her to stop walking and just explaining to her how I felt now. But I decided against it. God, Dale made it sound so easy, but how do you even tell someone that you've basically been in love with them since the day you met them? I mean, telling anyone would be hard enough but telling your best friend? That's gotta be harder. There's so much more to lose when they're your best friend. If she doesn't feel the same then it'll be awkward and that'll ruin our friendship, then I won't have her at all. I'd rather bury my feelings and have her as a friend, than expose myself and not have her.

God, love fucking hurts.
