CHAPTER 7
Days turned into weeks, naging mabilis ang paglipas ng araw, and I still found myself avoiding conversations with anyone, ayoko pa rin pag-usapan ang nangyari, becoming even more withdrawn, and avoiding going out altogether.
Straight after classes, I headed straight home, not bothering to interact with anyone, not even acknowledging Vin's presence, as I lacked the desire to engage with anyone.
While walking along the street on my way home, I spotted the elderly woman I often helped push her cart uphill because she struggled to push it.
Masyadong mabigat ang kariton na tinutulak niya. I hastened to approach her and assisted her with pushing the cart.
She glanced at me and met my gaze, quickly breaking into a smile upon seeing me.
“Salamat apo, ngayon nalang ulit tayo nagkita,” she said as I continued pushing her cart. I remained silent, only offering her a smile in return.
As we reached the top, I took a deep breath, feeling the strain from the exertion, tinignan ko naman ang dinaanan namin, masyadong matarik ang daan.
“Nako, pasensya kana apo, naabala pa kita at mukhang napagod kapa sa pagtutulak,” she said anxiously, reaching out and holding my hand.
“Ayos lang ho,” I reassured her, and she rummaged through her cart as if searching for something.
“Ito, kunin mo na itong tubig apo, huwag kang mag alala malinis itong tubig, hindi pa ito nabubuksan,” she said, offering me a bottle of mineral water, but I quickly declined.
“Kunin mo na ito bilang pasasalamat ko sa palagi mong pagtulong sa akin,” she insisted, trying to get me to take the water.
I didn't know how to react to her words, but suddenly the heavy feeling I was feeling suddenly eased.
Nagpaalam na ako at umuwi na, I just look at her pushing her cart towards the opposite direction of my way, pagkarating ko sa bahay ay binati naman ako ng katahimikan, nilapag ko lang ang bag ko at saka nagtungo sa banyo.
I let the cold water cascade through my spine. The cold water relaxes my chaotic thought while listening to the music.
I don't know how many hours I spent in the bathroom enjoying the water until I feel hunger, mabilis akong umahon at saka tinuyo ang sarili, moping around won't do me any good, kinuha ko na kaagad ang susi ng motor pagkatapos ko magbihis.
I headed to the gym and was immediately greeted by my friends inside.
“Yo! Jix! Tagal mong nawala, nabalitaan namin ang nangyari sa'yo, ayos kana ba?” one of them asked as I put on my gloves.
“Yeah,” I replied, glancing at the large mirror inside the gym.
“Kung tinawag mo sana kami, hindi aabutin ng liwanag ang mga ‘yon,” another friend chimed in, sitting on the sidelines as he wiped his sweat.
