"Never have I ever made out with Steven Conklin!" Nicole asked the next question, making Shayla put her finger down as she wasa blushing. All the girls were sitting on the patio, which overlooked at sea as they played a game of never have I ever.

Belly, however, drank one two many pomergranate margaritas and she was very drunk by at this point. She laughed at everything and was barely able to keep herself steady.

"Dani? Why didn't you put a finger down? You literally made out with Steven!" Danielle began to blush out of embaressment.

"I don't know what yo're talking about, Bells." She said as she let out a fake laugh.

"Stop acting so innocent, Dani, remember the other night, the party! At Nicole's place." Belly threw her had back as she laughed like a maniac. She then took another sip from her gla.

"I need a minute, sorry." Shayla got up and walked away from the scene. Soon enough, Danielle was the one in the spotlight. All eyes were now on her, and she wanted to disappear. She got up herself and walked away as well. Autumn tried to stop her, but failed.

"Wait, Shayla. I can explain. It's not the way you think it looks." She continued. "I was drunk, and so was he. I was the one who kissd him first. He didn't want to kiss me back, promise." She stopped.

why was she suddenly protecting the boy who hurt her.

"He really loves you, Shayla. And, he really wants to be your escort to the ball, more than you think. It's not a lie, it's the bare truth." Shayla stared at the FIsher for a second, then all the other girls appeared on the driveway, ready to make the way back to their own houses.

Shayla nodded back at the girl, sending her a really small smile before she turned away and began walking with the other girls.

When Danielle closed the front door, she noticed Laurel was standing there. That was all she needed to know that she was listening to the whole conversation between her son's best friend and her son's girlfriend. Danielle ran staright to the Conklin mother and hugged her without any hesitation. The woman held the girl with a tight grip, stroking her hand through her hair.

"I know, sweetheart. I know it's hard."

A tear fell down Danielle's face as she sniffled, trying to contain her tears in her eyes. She was successfully able to manage that task. She was the first to pull away and look at Laurel.

"I just don't understand why he acts like he likes me when he really doesn't." She admitted to the older adult.

"Steven is complicated, Dani. He loves you, but doesn't know how to show it. He'll come around, I promise." Laurel said, ending her statement with a small smile on her face.

Laurel noticed someone's presence behind Danielle. She looked over her shoulder and noticed Jacob behind her. Turn out, she called him over to see if they can figure and fix things between them two.

"Someone's here to see you." She said s she pointed behind her. Danielle turned around and found Jacob standing there with a boquet of tulips in his hand. She smiled and walked over to him, engulfing him in a hug. "You remembered." She whispered to him as she grabbed the tulips.

"How could I forget. And, these are for your mom." He said before handing her some red roses. One of her mothers favorite flowers.

"Uh, thank's for the pep talk, Laurel. I'm gonna be in my room." Danielle smiled at Laurel as she smiled back before pulling Jacob up to her room

"I forgot how much I really missed this. Just us talking together." Danielle said as she calmed down from all the laughing the two were doing.

"Yeah, uh, Danielle. I really wanted to apologize for what I did last sumer to you. I never should have left you like I did. I really missed you, and I really wanted to see if I could be your escort to the debutant ball." Jacob spoke once the two were done laughing and giggling. Danielle tilted her head over at his direction, wondering how he knew that she was a deb this year.

"How did you know I wat gonna attend the ball?"

"Let's just say your mom really wanted either me or Steven to be your esort. She called me up a few days ago asking if we could make up so I could ask you  if you'd take me. I understand if you don't want to, but-" Danielle stopped Jay's rambling with her lips pressing onto his. Well, she partially did it for him to shut up, but also to distract her from Steven after he mentioned him. She tried to see if their spark was still there, yet it wasn't.

"Sorry, but you were ramblling." She said as she giggled at him. He held her in both his hands as he chuckled as well.

"Well, maybe I should ramble more often then." He said then smiled before leaning in for another kiss. She leaned it afterwards and held the side of his face with both her hands. She pulled out first as she then grabbed his hand and lead them downstarts to go back outside to se if her mom broight out her cake she made earlier in the day.
