It was late, Conrad was driving, eyes focused on the road ahead of him. Sitting in the passenger seat was Jeremiah. In the back sat Danielle right in between the Conklin siblings, holding onto her boyfriends hand.

Everything was... quiet. The moon was beginning to set and the slight breez coming from out the window was moving Belly and Danielle's hair. They were all still in their clothes from the debutant ball. They honestly didn't care about that, all they wanted to do was to just have fun together.

Throughout the entire summer, there hasn't been one moment where they were all together, not fighting or silently hating each other. They didn't want their final days of summer to be wasted. They needed one more final memory together. One stong and where they're all together.

"Oh, Connie, turn the volume up a little." Danielle said, recognizing the song that started playing.

"No, Dani-" Conrad tried saying.

"C'mon Connie!" Belly complained and Danielle streched out her arm and turned up the volume to the car's stereo.

"Fever dream high in the quiet of the night You know that I caught it" Belly and Danielle started singing, their fists balled up as mics.

"Bad bad boy Shiny toy with a price You know that I bought it"

"Killing me slow, out the window
I'm always waiting for you to be waiting below" Steven then joined in. Belly continued as the two shared a small kiss while Belly sang the pre-chorus

"And it's new, the shape of your body
It's blue, the feeling I got" Jeremiah soon joined into the fun with his best friends.

"And it's ooh, whoa, oh
It's a Cruel Summer" Danielle sang as Conrad sighed, trying to contain his laugher.

By the third verse of the song, everyone in the car was singing at the top of their lungs. They were shouting every single word, throwing out any negative thoughts or energy they had.

The beach was empty and quiet when they got there. Belly was the first to start running to the ocean as soon as the car came to a stop, followed by Danielle, who took her white heels off, throwing them into the trunk of the car.

The girls laughed when Belly almost took a fall to the ground, feeling free for the first time this summer. The two stopped when the reached the cold water.

When they reached the surface again, the boys were already in the water with them. Steven made his way to Danielle, loading her onto his shoulders as he lead the two back to the beach.

"I wanna dance. With you." He said.

"What?" She asked, a little confused by his statement.

"You didn't get a chance to have your deb dance. So, I wanna dance with you."

Danielle smirked. "You'll have to catch me first!" Danielle then started running in the other direction down the beach. She could still hear Steven's laugh coming from behind her as she shrieked when he wrapped his arms her waist and spun her around.

He set her down for a second and picked her back up in brial style as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I want to marry you, in the future. I want to be your wife, one day. I love you, Steven Conklin."

Steven's heart was full with love and grattitude. To him, the most beautiful girl wanted to marry him. In his eyes, the most gorgrous girl in existance was his girlfriend.

He gently set her down and grabbed her by the waist, bringing her in for a kiss. The sun was beginning to rise, illumining the two on the shore.

"Can I have this dance?" He asked, reaching his hand out for her to take it.

She grabbed his hand and giggled. "You may." Steven laced their fingers together and placed his hand on her waist once again. The two slowly began waltzing around, occasionally stepping on each others feet and sharing small kisses here and there.

They could hear Belly's laugh, still in the ocean with Danielle's brothers. Danielle was finally happy, happy for the first time all summer, knowing that she was able to share it with the best people she could ever ask for. Throughout the entire summer, Steven would go and tease Belly just for fun. The Fisher brothers would fight for Belly's attention and Danielle was just simply there. She regret's a lot of things she did this summer, but in the back of her mind, she knew her mom wanted things to go that way. Susannah never wanted to be in the spotlight and ruin summer for the kids.

Standing at the beach's dock, Hanni smiled as the Conklin and FIsher siblings had the time of her life. This is what she wanted for Danielle. To have one final summer with her favorite people all together.

Hannie couldn't resist and took her phone out, snapping a picture of the entire scene unfolding right in front of her eyes. She smiled wider when she caught a picture of steven and Danielle sharing a sweet and tender kiss. Hannie thought about it, and left the beach so the kids could enjoy the rest of their fun without any distractions.

Danielle's head rested on Jeremiah's shoulders as the siblings admired the pink and orange sky. Suddenly feeling tired, she did't notice the others going for a walk.

"I'm sorry, Jere. I'm sorry for everything. I should have been more considerate and spent more time with you this summer."

"It's alright, Dani. I forgive you. You'll always be my little sister who's madly in love with Steven Conklin." He softly hit the top of Danielle's head. "Nothing's ever going to change that."

He was right about one thing. No matter what happens, Cousins was ment for her. Forever. With or without Susannah.

This was Danielle's summer.
