The mothers and the kids were having dinner out tonight. Tonight was pretty big for Steven as he invited Shayla with them to have some dinner. Since Laurel wanted to meet her asa he was going to escort to the deb ball.

Susannah let Danielle invite Jay as well, as she told her that he should spend some time with the family as Jay's going to now be Danielle's escort.

Steven's hand was on top of Shayla's, whom was answeing the mom's questions in a polite manner.

Danielle was putting on a smile the entire evening Shayla would look back at their table, but she was actually a little upset on the inside. Shayla being introduced to the family ment that she actually nedded to go with Jay.

"Hey, babe. You feeling okay? You've been off all night." Jay asked as he noticed how Danielle's behavior was a little different tonight.

"Huh, oh yeah. I'm just a little tired."

"Why don't I take you home and you can get some rest. I'll let your mom and Laurel know." Jay offered as he took the napkin off his lap and placed it on the table. Danielle hesitated for a second before nodding at him.

"Yeah, that sounds amazing."

Jay gave her a small smile before getting up from his place and walked over to where Susannah and Laurel were sitting. He told the mother's about Danielle feeling slightly ill before walking back to where she was sitting.

"You are so lucky your mom still likes me because she told me to stay back with you once were back at your place. If you want me to, I'll stay the night. But overall, she just wants me to make sure that you'll be okay while they're still here."

Danielle smiled at her 'boyfriend' as she got up and grabbed her stuff along with her. She reached for his hand as he gladly took it. She turned and saw Steven looking at her and Jay walking hand-in-hand with each other. She looked away from him and leaned her head on Jay's shoulder.

Jay looked back and glared at Steven ad Steven glared back at him. The 'couple' left the place and walked back to Jay's car. He opened her door as she got in and sat down in the passenger seat.

He closed her door and walked around the front of the car to get into the driver seat.

"Still my passenger princess, as always." He smiled as he placed his seatbelt on. He them kissed her temple as she faked a smile.

"Aux cord?" He asked as he help out the cord for her to take if she wanted.

"No thanks. I think I'm just going to take a nap while we get there." She said as she leaned her head on the leather headboard. He nodded and took her hand on one of his while the other was on the steering wheel. She put in her earbuds and began playing some music to help her relax. The first song that came up was Cover Me by Stray Kids.

She closed her eyes as the music played through her ears. She couldn't help but think about Steven when this song was playing. It basically described the two in the form of song.

Danielle was really upset that she really needed to let Steven go for real this time. She also know that sooner or later, she would need to tell Jay about everything. As much as she doesn't want to hurt him,

She felt the car stopped, making her open her eyes to see her hand still interwined with Jay's. He smiled at her before getting out the car and walking over to the passenger side and opening the door for her. She got out and grabbed her keys from her purse. She inserted the key and walked inside the house with Jay following behind. She took off her flats and placed them near the doorway.

"I'm going to wash up and head to be right after. Night, love." Danielle said as she got on her tiptoes as Jay still had his shoes on and kissed him. He smiled into the kiss before Danielle pulled out first.

He waved at her and she walked up to her room to get ready for bed. She took one of her earbuds out while still having one on. She continued to play her music as she got ready to sleep.

She realized that this summer didn't go the way she really wanted it to be. She lost her two best friends, she's 'back together' with her ex, and her mother basically doesn't have much time with them anymore.

This summer really wasn't her summer.
