Steven's door was closed when Danielle got there. She knocked on the door, with the two's special knock.
"Come in!" He yelled from inside.
Danielle walked in and sa him standing by the window. "Steven, I want to talk about what happened last summer." His face quickly dropped at what she had just spoken. He motioned her to sit on the bed or in one of the chairs in his room. Once she sat down, he did next to her. Danielle scanned his room for a second analyzing how it's looked almost the exact same as when they were kids. "Hey," He said first, "Hey..."
Danielle sat up straight in her place, then taking in a deep breath, "I'm sorry. Sorry for lashing out on you the other night. I didn't want to even be at the bonfire in the first place. And, I don't know. I guess I was just, scared."
"Scared about what, Dani?"
"Scared that it was going to happen again. You know what Susannah always says. That we're a flame ment for each other."
Steven looked up at the ceiling, then back at Danielle, "Maybe because, we really are."
He grabbed Danielle's right hand and held in in both of his,
"Danielle, I knew I fucked everything up the moment I decided to walk away. I knew that I screwed everything between us up and you wouldn't ever forgive me for what I did. The only reason I walked away was because I was scared. I really did feel something for you and it's the best feeling anyone could have. But, I was a coward. I was scared that I would, go away one day. You're always the only thing on my mind. The day everything happened, you were just on the beach and you looked astonishing under the sunlight. In that moment, all I wanted to do was pull you into me and kiss the living hell out of you, but I thought I wasn't right for you. And now, you look different with your new looks. It's just so new to me."Danielle shook her head, "Steven, you're the only thing that's right for me. I-"
During that moment, Laurel waked in, "Sorry if I'm inerupting anything, but Susannah said that she needs help with making dinner and you two are the only ones still here so, come on." Danielle silently sighed as Laurel walked out of Steven's room. Danielle turned to look at Steven and pressed her forehead against his. He brought up his hands to the side of Danielle's face, "Let's go, Augustine Fisher."

If she's being completely transparent, Danielle didn't want to be here. Everyone felt so fancy and prissy and stuck up. It wasn't a crowd for Danielle, but she decided to go for Belly's sake. Belly was hanging out with her boyfriend Cam. Jeremiah was singing to Belly in the moment. Danielle ws trying to find at least one person she knew, but no one was there. Autumn was somewhere around the house probablly drunk. So, she decided to try and find an empty room.
She placed her earbuds in her ear and played one of her Spotify playlists. The first song that came up was coffee by Beabadoobee.
While looking for the room, she ran into a couple on accident. "I'm sorry- Wait, Minnie! Jacob!" She noticed her ex and her ex-best friend making out in the corner. "Wow, that a new fucking low. Even for you, Jay." She walked away as Jay tried calling for her, but was unsuccessful. As she continued to walk away from the scene, she found Steven in the corner of the room having a drink.
"You enjoying the party, August?" She smiled at his slighty drunken state as she nodded back at him.
"Do you want to go upstairs with me? The music's getting really loud." Danielle grabbed Steven's hand as he followed her upstairs.
They finally found an empty room and she walked in and dropped her body onto the bed. "You look really good in that top, Steven."
"Thanks, Dani." Steven said as he walked over to a chair in the corner of the room.
"You know, you also look really good in... what you're wearing." Steven comment made Danielle giggle. The two sat in a comftorable silence for what seemed like a long time for Danielle.
"I'm really tired!"
"Should I drive you home or," Danielle got up from ehr place and started to appreach the boy. Once she reached him, her thought gave into her and she sat on his lap.
"But, I don't want to go home yet." The girl complained.
"Then what do you wanna do?" He whispered as they were so close together, as he placed his hands on her lower back.
"What I really want to do? I really want to kiss you, Stevie."
Both their breath hitched. She leaned in first, causing their lips to touch, then collide with each other. Steven's hand moved up from her lower back to her cheek.
During that time, there wasn't anything else around them. No house, no party, no people, no noise, just the two long time best friends. Danielle and Steven.
"My brother, Danielle? Are you kidding me?" Belly said as she stood at the door frame.
Danielle's world started spinning and she wasn't feeling like herself.
"MY brother, Belly? Are YOU kidding me?" She clapped back at the girl as she got up and left for the restroom. She didn't mean what she just said. She was just really disappointed in Belly. The two basically grew up like sisters and she never saw how serious this love for Steven ever was, because everything was about Conrad.
She passed Conrad walking over to the restroom making him follow his sister. She sat down against the bathtub without noticing Conrad naxt to her. Once she did, she leaned her head on his shoulder as she cried her heart out for a good 5 minutes. They haven't had a moment like this since he's changed, toughing Danielle's heart.
"I kissed him. I kissed Steven."
"Actually?" She nodded in response.
"I feel reeally bad, Connie."
"Things happen for a reason. Maybe this'll finally give you a chance to be with him." He started playing with the ends of her blue hair, his arm aound his sister.
