Mirajane walked down the hallway while looking for her favorite blue pencil.
"Oh man, where did it go?" She mumbled to herself.
Kinana, who was walking beside Mira, piped up.
"You mean your blue one?"
"Yes, I seemed to have lost it." She sighed.
"Um, Mirajane, it's in your hand."
Mira looked down to see the blue pencil in the opposite hand she was using to rummage through her backpack.
"Oh jeez, oops, thanks Kinana." She smiled gratefully at her friend.
She was getting a little distracted with all her schoolwork. Moving to a whole new school was harder than Mira thought. Some of the teachers were a little too scary and some of the boys a little too friendly. It was difficult to adjust, though Mira tried not to show how she was feeling. She kept a bright smile on her face at all times.
"Can I tell you something?" Kinana suddenly asked.
Mira looked down to see Kinana sheepishly wringing her hands.
"Of course."
Well..." Kinana took a deep breath, "Listen, don't make a big deal out of this or anything."
Mira waited for her to continue.
"I really want to tell you before the other girls, because your understanding and maybe you could help me out a little."
Kinana smiled up at her hopefully.
"Just don't get into a matchmaking mood and start fangirling."
Mira knew exactly where this was going.
"You can tell me."
Kinana paused like she was thinking.
"IkindofhaveahugecrushonEric." She burst out then squeezed her eyes shut like she was embarrassed.
Mira squealed.
"No way! You two would be so cute together. I can't believe you like Er-" Kinana put her hand over Mira's screeching mouth to prevent the news from spreading to every student in the entire school.
"Shhhh. Um yah, so I like him. But I have no idea what I'm supposed to do..."
Mira looked down to see Kinana even more shy than usual, and a blush tinted her cheeks. It was like this was the first time she's liked a guy before. Wait...
"This seriously cant be the first time you've had a crush, can it?!"
Kinana nervously giggled.
"Actually yes."
Mira smiled down at innocent little Kinana. She was taking her first steps into being a lady. Though the whole boy crazy phase usually started around sixth grade, not high school. How could Kinana not have had a crush over that period of time?
"Kinana when did you start liking Cobr- Eric?" Mira asked.
"When the school year started."
"This makes no sense. It's like you've only started interacting with boys this year." Mira exclaimed jokingly.
Kinana laughed nervously, and looked down to her left.
Mira suddenly wondered if what she had just said wasn't a joke at all.
She grabbed Kinana and pulled her into the bathroom. When she was sure no one else was in there, she gave Kinana a questioning look.
"I feel like your not telling me something."
Kinana looked uncomfortable.
"You can tell me anything."
Kinana messed with the hem of her shirt. Then she rubbed the back of her neck. But Mira's stare was not budging. Finally she sighed in defeat.
"I guess it starts seven years ago, I was in a car crash. My injuries put me into a coma for four years." She shrugged like it was no big deal.
But actually it was a very big deal.
Like seriously girl, don't think it's not a big deal.
"Ohmigosh..." Mirajane gasped.
"No its okay, the two years after I woke up I spent catching up on the time I had lost. Then last year, I went to Fairy Tail High."
Mira looked down at her hands, she honestly didn't know what to say. Kinana had literally lost four years of her life.
"So you could say I'm little behind." Kinana laughed dryly.
"So you've never had a crush on a boy before?" Mira asked.
"Well no, I guess that's not entirely true. I had a crush on my next door neighbour before it happened."
"Who was he?"
"I don't know. I have amnesia when it comes to that. I don't remember his name, and i can barely recall his face." Kinana explained.
"That's cute though, I'm sure you were very young." Mira replied softly.
"I was, I always remember we used to pretend he was a dragon and I was his companion." Kinana looked up like she was trying hard to remember, "I think I was supposed to be a snake. We would pretend to travel to different galaxies. He would always ask me, ready to fly past the stars? That's basically the only thing I can remember from when i was young."
"That's terrible. I'm sorry, you basically can't remember your entire childhood."
Kinana pushed open the door and stepped out with Mira following.
"It's fine. I've come to terms with it. And sorry for being super depressing." Kinana laughed then walked to her next class.
Mira marveled at how normal Kinana acted despite the fact she had lost more than half her memories.
Mira wondered what it would be like to lose something so precious.
In the middle of her deep thinking, someone came up behind her.
"Hello."
