Kinana's POV
I walked in my chemistry class to see the desks arranged in a different way than usual. The students, instead of sitting down, were gathered at the back of the classroom. Lucy was in the group of students and she waved me over. I quickly walked over to join in.
Our teacher walked in, "Good afternoon class, we will be starting a new unit that will be more hands-on then our previous ones. This will require each of you have a partner. As you can see, the desks are organized in twos," the teacher gestured around the room, "your seatmate will accompany you with every experiment we do in class for the time being and so forth."
He clapped his hands and started assigning students to desks. I hoped I would be with Lucy, but that probably wouldn't happen.
"Kinana!" I looked up when I heard my name being called, "Right here Miss Kinana, next to the window."
I walked over and sat down.
"And next to her will be...Eric. Come on now Eric, we haven't got all day!"
Oh my Mavis, I didn't even know he was in this class!
I avoided all eye contact with him as he took the seat right next to me. I honestly couldn't believe I was sitting next to my crush, I also couldn't decide if it was a blessing or a curse. He stared at me for awhile, I guess he was waiting for me to talk to him. I couldn't do that though, I probably would embarrass myself.
He finally gave up and turned his attention to the teacher, who had begun the lesson. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye. I could only see half his face.
Darn.
He did one of those unconscious little hair flips and my heart melted. I could also smell him from here also. He smelled really nice. As weird as it sounded, it was true.
Suddenly he tensed, he turned to me and gave me one of those 'what are you staring at' looks.
I didn't give the look much attention because I was staring at his eye. His right eye normally was always shut with a scar across it. But right now his eye was open but the scar was still there.
"Wh-what happened to your eye? It's open now." I stammered stupidly.
Eric reached up and touched his scar.
"Oh yeah, I like to keep it closed but, I dunno, I just opened it because I felt like it...I guess." He said.
"Why do you keep it closed? You look nice with both your eyes..."
I don't exactly why I did it, but I reached my hand up to his face. I gently touched his scar, but as soon as I did, his right eye flared an icy blue. I gasped and jerked my hand back.
"What?!" He asked alarmed at my reaction. His eye turned back to it's original dark brown.
"I just- well, your eye, it suddenly turned blue." I told him.
"B-Blue?!" He stammered and for some reason his face flushed red.
Why was he blushing?
"Why did it do that?" I asked.
"Oh, well after my accident," He gestured to the scar, "I got a rare condition in my eye that makes it change color when I experience a strong emotion. That's why I usually keep it closed..."
"Wow, that's actually really cool." I said.
He laughed.
"I can be, I guess. It makes me a freak though. When I get really angry it turns red. It looks weird."
