Gray's POV
What was even going on?
I stared at the screen trying to make sense of what was happening. One of the girls in the movie found out she had cancer.
It was sad. She might die I suppose.
I looked over at Juvia for a quick second. I wondered if the scene was bringing her close to tears as well. Her face was solemn.
She gave me side-long glance and seemed to study my face for a bit. I went ahead and explored hers too. She was really pretty but her eyes didn't seem to match her face. They had an odd deepness to them.
I loved them.
I noticed her hand lying open faced on the hand rest.
I placed mine on hers without even consciously realizing it. She's jumped a bit at my touch and stared at our entwined fingers.
"I'm sorry." I whispered to her.
She just nodded and I noticed tears streaming down her face.
I guess even though she built a wall around her, I managed to break through. With my other hand I pulled back her sleeve and touched her cutting scars.
"I'm sorry I did this to you."
She was openly sobbing, but no one really noticed since everyone was wrapped up in their own tears from the movie.
I pulled her to me and I could feel her tears on my chest.
"No," Juvia finally replied, "I'm sorry for being such an annoying, disgusting freak."
I placed my hands on her shoulders and stared her down. Her beautiful face was broken down, it was the same face that haunted my dreams.
"Juvia, I fell hard for you and refused to acknowledge it. I pushed you away because I was jealous. God dammit Juvia, I was jealous. Now I promise that I will never do that again. Do you hear me?"
I took her hand and held it to my heart.
"I promise." I insisted.
I wiped my face, and was surprised to feel my tears falling.
Juvia pulled away. I was horrified to find doubt spread all over her face. I let go of her and turned away, angrily wiping my tears. I should have known I could never fix this. I blew it.
I was the reason she tried to kill herself.
Juvia's POV
"I promise."
My breath hitched. Could I really trust him? This was the same boy who made me feel like I didn't belong on this earth. Because of him, I lost a part of me that I don't think I will ever get back.
What I was thinking must have been written all over my face because he pulled back and turned away. His face was emotionless but I could see disappointment and hurt in his eyes.
We sat for a little bit. I didn't even pay attention to the movie. Was it still playing? Are there people surrounding us? I didn't know. I just was focused on Gray.
He started trembling as he was clenching and releasing his fists.
He was angry.
And for once it wasn't targeted at me, he was angry at himself.
Gray stared straight ahead, but I heard him say softly, "Did you know you are the most lovely thing I ever come to know on this earth? But it's always the most beautiful flowers that get picked and die first, huh?"
Then he got up and walked out of the theater without looking at me. As he left, I couldn't help but notice how perfectly his hair framed his face. How adorable he looked when he clenched his jaw when he was angry. The shirt he was wearing hugged his well-developed torso. He did this unconscious little hair flip that made my heart stop.
I slapped myself.
Oh, don't even start Juvia. You hate that little son of a bitch.
