ONE YEAR LATER:
I twist my messy, ponytailed, blonde hair nervously. Today is 19 September: Color Day. Not just any Color Day. It is is my thirteenth Color Day- when I have to choose.
"980632269015? It's your turn to choose."
I cringe: my turn. I'm nervous. They say it's natural to worry. That everyone does. I'm not too sure that it's typically to this extent. My nails are chewed short and blood leaks out from underneath. I enter the white yet gloomy room.
A lady in a white coat asks, "Whats your favorite color? Choose wisely."
"Um...." This is the biggest decision l will ever make. "Violet... the darker kind though"
"Are you certain? This affects the rest of your life?
I am completely aware of this.
"Uhhh.... I think so...."
"Say it firmly," the woman whispers in my ear.
Oh yeah.... The cameras... I almost forgot! I put on a fake smile,
"Definitely!"
"980632269015: violet!"
I "smile" again and exit the room.
