The next morning came quickly.
The night before, Bambi spent the first several hours in her new dorm unpacking while getting to know her roommates. There were two other girls she shared a room with, Angelina Johnson, and Alicia Spinnet, both other third-year girls. Despite knowing each other for two years, they seemed friendly enough to Bambi when she walked in on them sitting together excitedly chatting about the upcoming Quidditch trials. They held in their hands a magazine advertising the newest fastest brooms, all flying around at high speeds around the pages.
Bambi immediately joined in their conversation, and the three girls agreed to go to the tryouts together in the upcoming week of school. They stayed up late into the night, sharing leftover snacks and candy they had bought from the train and chatting with each other.
Bambi fell asleep with a smile on her face, and only one bag unpacked, that being, Monty's things as he slept curled up next to her.
When the gentle morning sun woke them up, not the loud bell of an alarm clock Angelina had, the three dressed in their school robes, and this time, to Bambi's relief, Angelina taught her how to tie her tie correctly, (well, it was still a little crooked, but better than nothing). Alicia even offered to braid Bambi's hair in two long French braids, which, to Bambi's surprise, turned out with little to no flyaways for once in her life... that is, other than the curled strands by her ears.
After breakfast in the Great Hall, Bambi looked down at her class schedule that was just handed out. Today she had Herbology with Hufflepuff, Potions with Ravenclaw, Transfiguration with Slytherin, and then finally, History of Magic with Ravenclaw again. She had signed up for Care of Magical Creatures, and Divination for her two additional electives, but she wouldn't have either of those classes until Friday, much to her disappointment.
"Herbology is a very important skill for a young witch or wizard to have!" The squat little woman with curly grey hair announced once they entered the greenhouse. "Without Herbology, the magical community would have little to no way to cure common ailments through Potions and natural remedies," She went on as Bambi listened.
That day Professor Sprout told them all about Puffapods, plants with seed pods that explode into large vibrant flowers when thrown, and watched with a keen eye to make sure they were taking their notes because, "Even if we don't have written exams in this class, the things you learn here are things you'll want to remember!"
"Ah, Miss Hargroves!" She met eyes with the hazel-eyed girl as she scanned the room as the students began to file out of the greenhouse, "Your father was excellent at Herbology. I look forward to seeing you follow in his footsteps," She grinned, proudly.
"You taught my dad?" Bambi asked a bit surprised.
Professor Sprout nodded, "Learned everything he knew from me," She said with a playful chortle.
As Bambi walked back towards the castle with the rest of the Gryffindors, she found herself lost in thought, thinking about the day so far, and what Professor Sprout had said.
Out of the blue, she was hit with an eerie feeling of being followed. The hairs on her neck stood up just as something shining and pink flew through the air on either side of her, and her robe erupted in many pink and purple flowers. The flowers clung to her robes, trailed off her sleeves, and a few even landed in her hair.
"Got her!" Fred and George laughed, suddenly appearing on her sides of her grinning.
"Think'ya got something in your hair," The twin on the left leaned in, plucking a flower from her braid and smelling it deeply.
Bambi pretended to be upset, "Oh no! I don't have any other robes unpacked yet," She pretended to fret, anxiously attempting to brush the flowers from her robes, but they stubbornly clung on. "Oh no...Oh no,"
