October 28th"Fred..." Bambi whispered, her voice barely more than a breath as she pulled back, a bit dazed, from the kiss. She needed a moment to steady herself, her heartbeat pounding like distant thunder in her ears.
Firelight crackled around them, sending little flickering shadows to dance around the otherwise empty common room and a golden glow over Fred's face. She couldn't help but admire the way the light glinted across his features, enhancing his high cheekbones and the sharpness of his jaw. There were small marks along his neck, bruises with tiny pin-prick bite marks from her sharp teeth. It was quite an enjoyable scene.
Fred pulled her down on top of his lap, a satisfied grin plastered across his face. He tilted his head back as her hands relaxed from their tangled travel into his hair. His eyes drifted closed for only a moment as he let out a hum of pleasure, enjoying the feeling of her hands on him. When he opened his eyes again, his gaze was once more fixed upon her, taking in every detail of her face. His hands gripped her hips, pulling her close against him.
"Yes, love?" He asked, warm eyes looking up at her, his voice soft and low.
When she didn't say anything, he leaned up and placed a row of light kisses along her jawline, his lips traveling slowly up to her ear.
"BAMBI!" He yelled in Angelina's voice.
The dream shattered like class, leaving Bambi blinking into the early morning light of the dormitory, her heart pounding wildly in her chest. Her body still tingled from the vividness of the dream, the sensation lingering far longer than she'd like to admit. Despite mentally blaming it on the upcoming full moon, Bambi knew deep down that there was more at play than supernatural sensitivity.
Before she could collect herself, the curtains around her bed were yanked open, and Alicia's face appeared, beaming at her. "Happy birthday!"
Bambi groaned, burying her face into her pillow to hide the flush creeping up her neck. "Do you have to be so loud?"
"Yes, yes we do!" Angelina chimed in from behind Alicia, a wide grin on her face. "It's your sixteenth birthday! You don't get to sleep through it."
With a sigh, Bambi pushed herself up, the dream still clinging to the edges of her mind. Bloody hell , she thought, running a hand through her tangled curls. That was one way to start the day.
"You alright?" Alicia asked, eyeing her curiously. "You look a bit... flustered."
"I'm fine," Bambi muttered, her voice thick with embarrassment. She threw off the blankets and swung her legs over the edge of the bed, trying to shake off the lingering warmth from the dream. "Just—one of those mornings, I guess."
"Well, get your butt out of bed, because we've got a whole day of birthday celebrations ahead of us," Angelina said, already rifling through her closet for her robes. "And trust me, by tonight, you're going to wish you'd had that extra sleep."
Bambi shook her head, pushing past her friends. "Sure, sure," she replied, pulling on her school uniform.
She momentarily paused in front of the mirror, taking in her reflection, almost expecting to see signs of the dream lingering on her skin—matching bruises on her neck, perhaps, or a telltale flush on her cheeks that hinted at something more than a mere dream. But there was nothing; just her usual self staring back at her, a bit disheveled and very much awake.
Those dreams hadn't stopped, in fact, they had only become more frequent and vivid despite Bambi's will to stop them altogether. The dreams were exhilarating yet maddening, leaving her breathless and wanting more. It didn't help that she was required to keep a dream journal for her Divination class. For the first time in her life, she was having memorable dreams, yet there was no way could she ever pen the things that had played out in her mind, not when they involved Fred in such a tantalising way.
