The next two days passed quite slowly.
Bambi knew she wouldn't hear back from her Dad for a long time, but it didn't stop her from hopefully watching the owl post come in during breakfast. She visited Gerald during the evenings to feed him a treat each night before going to the Gryffindor common room to work on homework.
Potions sucked.
There was no other word to describe it, which was a shame to Bambi because she enjoyed learning about brewing potions, but Professor Snape made the subject unbearable. Since her last essay, he had assigned several more, each more boring than the last.
She lost Gryffindor an additional 5 points with Professor McGonagall on Tuesday because she accidentally hit a student with the transfiguration charm rather than the teapot they were practicing on, giving the student a large turtle shell on their back. Despite the points lost, Professor McGonagall did praise her for at least, doing part of the spell correctly.
Wednesday night Alicia and Bambi surprised Angelina for her birthday, decorating the dorm with Gryffindor banners they enchanted to say "Happy Birthday!,". They couldn't figure out how to get the lion off of the banners, so instead, they gave him a birthday hat on top of his mane, and he sang, well, roared the birthday song. Bambi made sure to promise that she would get Angelina a real present that weekend at Hogsmeade. They all stayed up really late drinking pumpkin juice Bambi snuck up, and trading secrets.
Thursday was the day everyone was looking forward to. Halloween!
They would only have half classes that day, which, even though everyone was hoping for the whole day off, was better than a full day. Bambi was looking forward to the feast. She had caught a few glimpses of the Great Hall between classes the day before, and she knew it was going to look enchanting.
"Hargroves, Bambi?" Repeated the squeaky voice of Professor Flitwick.
Bambi blinked rapidly, suddenly focusing in on the hand being waved over her face.
"Bambi!" Angelina hissed under her breath, still waving her hand.
"Here!" Bambi quickly cleared her throat, smiling. She was thinking about all the delicious foods that would be at the feast that evening.
"Good, good," Professor Flitwick muttered, checking her name off the list of students.
The Ravenclaws on the other side of the room giggled at her.
Professor Flitwick continued to take roll call, turning on his stack of books to look at each student as he spoke.
"Today class," He cleared his throat with a cough that sounded more like a sneeze, "We will begin work on the cheering charm! A simply delightful charm, I'm sure you'll come to agree. I'd like everyone to find a partner, and take turns practicing the incantation," He explained the incantation and some history of the charm as everyone paired up.
Fred and George of course turned to each other, as well as Angelina and Alicia, leaving Bambi to once again pair up with Lee, not that she minded. It seemed to work out that she completed the third person in the trio of girls.
"Cheriolas!" Bambi shot at Lee, whose straight face immediately broke into a very wide grin.
Cheerful giggles and smiles were breaking out all over the room as more students practiced the charm. Flitwick walked around praising students for their work and awarding points occasionally to the perfectly casted charm.
Lee tried to cast the charm on Bambi, but his grin was still so wide that he couldn't pronounce the incantation right, instead shooting little sparkles around her face. The two laughed.
