THE NEXT MORNING

this is the first time jj and pope has seen my dad since he'd got back and the first time Cleo's met him.
It was nice having everyone back together, but something felt off.
I stood and watched jj, pope, Sarah, Cleo and John b play around with my dad, I wasn't even in the mood to be in a happy state right now.
After last nights thing with jj, I've been quiet.
Then my brother started explaining what he and my dad were doing while we were getting the 'cross'.
I was still sitting afar, still listening in.
"It was a dead end." John b sighs.
"Great, the cross, the gold and now el dorado." Pope states before walking off.
"I'm going fishing, see ya." Jj says before getting up and leaving.
Cleo went up and followed pope.
So it was just me, my dad, john b and Sarah.
I sigh and walk back into the chateau and lay in my bed... just thinking.
And later that day... john b and my dad left again.
Me, on my own.
Like for real this time.
I jump up as I got a text from Cleo.
"Meet at heywards. It's abt pope." The text read.
I put my shoes on and head over.

"Popes quitting school." Cleo says as me and jj were stood infront of her and pope.
"dude, come on." I groan at pope.
"Being a coroners kind of weird anyway." Jj smiles.
"Shut up, wrench dick." Pope sighs.
I let a out a laugh.
"Oh... so it's probably not the time for this but I was down at guffys, trying to get my job back and I see the catty across the way, and on it... is rafe and Barry. I sneak over to hear what they're talking about. Pope, he has the cross. And he melted it down. I'm sorry, bro." Jj says as he lets out deep breaths.
"Fuck!" Pope yells.
I jump a little because I've never seen pope like this before.
I look at jj concerned, as does he.
"Of course it was rafe." Pope sighs.
We were all silent.
Until pope starts breaking shit.
"I'm sick of being the good guy." Pope states before walking out.
"Shit, pope? Where you going?" Cleo follows him.
Jj looks at me.
"You got any plans?" He asks.
"Does it look like it?" I laugh.
