we walked in and there were no lights.. at all.
only the light from outside barely shone in on us
"just uh..?" jj points
"yeah, on in there." chandler nods
we walk in, i was close behind jj, literally fearing my life
"this place smells like dead bodies." john b whispers
we walked into a room with a few chairs and a lot of books and pictures, like a museum.
"i'll let wes know you're here." chandler states before walking off.
we then get walked into a room with wes in, the fire on yet the place was still full and a large picture of a women above the fire place.
"come in. please, please, warm yourselves by the fire." wes greets
we all walk over and sit on the couches
"i apologise for dragging you all out here but this shouldn't be talked about publicly. i know i mentioned black beard but i assure you all, my interest is not for treasure. my ancestor, francis genrette, was the british officer who caught and killed the notorious pirate." wes explains
"wait. your... your direct ancestor?" pope asks
"mhm. yes, unfortunately. after he'd beheaded blackbeard, he killed the pirates wife, elizabeth. and since then, for 300 years, generations of genrette have been haunted by elizabeth's ghost. and have died violent deaths, including my daughter." wes explains before looking up at the picture of the woman above his fire place.
"larissa, chandlers wife."
i look at everyone but i double took jj as he was staring at the portrait of the woman.
i thought nothing about it as wes continued explaining.
"right. uh... we're really sorry that that happened to you, but.. what do you want from us?" john b asks
"of course, you're right. let's get down to business, chandler." he points
"we believe that we've found a way to break the curse on this family. right before she was murdered, elizabeth begged francis to retrieve from her husbands ship a keepsake that he'd given her. her most prized possession. an amulet." chandler explains before pointing at the necklace on elizabeth's portrait.
after more explaining... they finally hit us with it
"if you help us find the amulet, i believe it will break the curse that has haunted my family for over 300 years."
"okay.. um.. i'm sorry. where did you say the necklace thingy is?" i ask
"oh. blackbeards last ship, the adventure." chandler states
"perfect." i whisper, sarcastically
"according to all records, the amulet was still on it when it was scuttled right off goat island."
"right, yeah, but the coast guard excavated that site years ago." pope tells him
"the excavation team didn't know what we know. they didn't have this." wes passes pope some sort of diary..
"there's a secret lock box hidden behind the head board in the captains chamber. do you dive?" he asks
"we dive. all.. all of us do." jj immediately answers
i scoff before looking at jj
out of all of us, i think john b and sarah have went diving at least once
