—Rahaf's pov—

The morning sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over the room as I prepared for another day of college. Today was no ordinary day—it was filled with anticipation and excitement, tinged with a hint of nervousness.

As I brushed my hair and slipped into a long kurti with blue faded jeans, adding a pair of oxidised jhumka and bindi, my mind buzzed with thoughts of the upcoming fresher's party.

I had been asked to sing a song for the event, but the idea filled me with apprehension. Singing in front of a crowd was something I had never done before, and the mere thought of it sent shivers down my spine.

Despite my reservations, I knew I couldn't back out now. My friend Zoya had been relentless in her efforts to convince me, and even my professor had joined in, insisting that it would be a great opportunity for me to showcase my talent. Reluctantly, I had agreed, but the butterflies in my stomach refused to settle.

Again Aydin had left for office early in the morning, I don't know what's going on with him. Even if he's worried about something, he doesn't share it with me.

After the driver dropped me to College, I made my way inside, my mind was a whirlwind of nerves and excitement. I couldn't shake the feeling of dread that clung to me like a shadow, but I pushed it aside, determined to make the most of the day ahead.

Upon arriving at college, I was greeted by the familiar hustle and bustle of students rushing to their classes. Zoya waved to me from across the courtyard, her infectious smile brightening my mood despite my apprehension.

"Hey, Rahaf! Are you ready for the big day tomorrow?" she called out, bounding over to me with her usual enthusiasm.

I forced a smile, trying to mask the nervous flutter in my chest. "I guess so," I replied, my voice tinged with uncertainty.

Zoya linked her arm with mine, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Come on, Rahaf, you're going to be amazing! Just think of all the applause and admiration you'll get when you step on that stage."

I couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm, but deep down, I couldn't shake the feeling of dread that gnawed at me from within. What if I messed up? What if I forgot the lyrics? What if everyone laughed at me?

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of my professor's voice calling my name. I turned to see her approaching, a warm smile on her face.

"Rahaf, I wanted to talk to you about your performance at the fresher's party," she said, her tone encouraging. "I have every confidence in your abilities, and I know you're going to do a fantastic job."

I nodded, trying to muster up some semblance of confidence. "Thank you, mam. I'll do my best," I replied, though the words felt hollow on my lips.

As the day wore on, I found myself consumed by preparations for the party. Rehearsing the song, practicing my moves on stage, and trying to quell the rising tide of nerves that threatened to overwhelm me.

But despite my fears, there was a glimmer of excitement building within me. The prospect of stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing the spotlight filled me with a sense of exhilaration, and I knew that no matter what happened, I would give it my all.
