—Rahaf's pov—
As I stepped out of the shower, a sense of relief washed over me. The past few days had been a blur of routine, with Aydin consumed by his work and our interactions reduced to fleeting moments.
Tomorrow he was leaving for New York in a business trip, a fact I had learned from my mother-in-law.
Why would he tell me personally?
I couldn't even remember the last time I had seen his face properly. But today, with my menstruation finally over, I wanted to feel closer to him in some way. A excited smile played on my lips as I decided to wear Aydin's clothes for the day.
Opening his wardrobe, I was greeted by rows of neatly hung formal suits, a testament to his busy corporate life. But tucked away in a corner, I spotted a few sweatshirts and hoodies.
My smile widened as I reached for a soft black hoodie, imagining how comforting it would feel to wear something that carried his scent.
As I slipped into the hoodie pairing with my comfy trousers, the fabric enveloped me in warmth, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of closeness to Aydin, even in his absence.
It was a small gesture, but one that made me feel connected to him in a way that his absence couldn't diminish.
Turning to the mirror, I adjusted the hoodie, relishing in the feeling of familiarity it brought. It was as if I had borrowed a piece of him to keep me company until he returned.
As I glanced at the clock and saw the time nearing 7 pm, a flicker of anticipation coursed through me. Aydin would be coming home soon, since he's leaving early in the morning.
And the thought of finally seeing him properly after days of his hectic schedule filled me with a sense of excitement.
Descending the stairs, I entered the living room, where the maids were bustling about in the kitchen and my father and mother-in-law were seated on the couch, engrossed in a TV show.
Their easy companionship never failed to warm my heart - dad's arm wrapped protectively around mom, her head resting comfortably on his shoulder.
I paused for a moment, admiring the bond they shared, before the sound of the doorbell snapped me out of my reverie. With a quick smile at my in-laws, I made my way to the door, my heart beating a little faster in anticipation.
Opening the door, I was greeted by the sight of Aydin standing on the threshold, his presence filling the doorway. Despite the exhaustion etched on his face from days of relentless work, there was a flicker of warmth in his eyes.
"Aydin... you seem so exhausted," I couldn't help but express my worry as he walked past me, his shoulders slumped with weariness. I followed him into the house, feeling a pang of distress at his obvious fatigue.
Quickly, I hurried to the kitchen to fetch a glass of water for him, my mind racing with concern for his well-being. Aydin's health was paramount to me, and seeing him in this state filled me with a sense of urgency to take care of him.
Returning to the living room, I found Aydin seated on the couch, his parents looking at him with furrowed brows, clearly concerned for his well-being.
"Why are you overworking yourself, Aydin? Look at your health," mom's gentle voice carried a note of worry as she voiced her concern.
