-Aydin's pov-
As the words echoed in my ears, a surge of elation washed over me, drowning out all other thoughts. Rahaf had woken up. Rahaf was alive. The weight that had been crushing my heart for months lifted, replaced by a euphoria so intense it felt like I was floating on air.
"Ya rab shukar, shukar ya allah! I can't thank you enough." My voice barely audible, heavy with weight of emotions.
A bright smile spread across my face, the corners of my lips trembling with joy as I turned to my secretary. "Cancel the meeting," I said, my voice trembling with excitement. "My wife needs me."
But to my surprise, my secretary hesitated, her brow furrowing with concern. "But sir, this deal is a big opportunity," she protested. "We can't miss this."
I shook my head, my heart pounding in my chest. "I don't give a heck about any deals right now," I declared, my voice firm and unwavering. "My wife is more important than anything."
With that, I rushed out of the office, my footsteps echoing in the empty corridor as I made my way to the hospital.
Every second felt like an eternity as I navigated the streets, my mind racing with thoughts of Rahaf and the momentous news that awaited me.
When I finally reached the hospital, I burst through the doors, my heart pounding in my chest as I scanned the crowded waiting room. And there, amidst a sea of tear-stained faces, I saw her - Rahaf's family gathered around, their expressions a mix of relief and disbelief.
As I stepped into Rahaf's hospital room, my heart was soaring with joy at the sight of her awake after seven long months.
The mere thought of seeing her conscious and aware filled me with an indescribable happiness, a feeling that I had longed for with every fiber of my being.
But as I entered the room, my elation quickly turned to confusion and then to a deep, gnawing ache in the pit of my stomach. Rahaf was indeed awake, talking with Farhan, her face lit up with a small smile as they conversed.
Jealousy surged through me like a bolt of lightning, catching me off guard with its intensity. Farhan was Rahaf's senior, but seeing them together like this, seeing her smile at him in a way that she hadn't smiled at me in months, filled me with a searing sense of inadequacy.
"Rahaf..." I whispered, my voice barely above a hoarse whisper as I approached her slowly, my heart pounding in my chest.
At the sound of my voice, Rahaf's head snapped in my direction, her eyes widening in surprise. For a brief moment, I saw the flicker of recognition in her gaze, a glimmer of something that resembled hope.
But then, as quickly as it had appeared, her expression hardened, her eyes turning away from me, refusing to meet my gaze.
The pain that lanced through my heart was like nothing I had ever experienced before, a sharp, stabbing ache that threatened to consume me whole. Rahaf didn't want to look at me. Rahaf didn't want me here.
