letting go

in quiet moments, clarity appears,
the echoes of our laughter start to fade.
the times we shared, once bright, now veiled in tears,
acceptance comes, a path that must be made.

the good times, fun times, once our cherished song,
now memories that drift like autumn leaves.
it took a while, but i've grown strong,
and found a peace that sorrow no longer weaves.

it doesn't hurt as much, this truth i find,
the ache has dulled, the sting has lost its bite.
i hold the past with tenderness in mind,
but let it go to welcome new daylight.

acceptance blooms where once there was just pain,
and with it, hope begins to grow again.
