shadows of unspoken love

we had a love that lived in shadows,
a situationship sketched on a whiteboard,
never brought into the light,
never known or acknowledged by others.

it was comfortable, joyous in its simplicity,
a secret world where we found happiness,
our moments filled with quiet hope,
each day a promise of something more.

but then it fell, crumbling in the darkness,
our love dissolved into whispers,
i dwelled alone in the pain,
unseen, unnoticed, because it was never announced.

there was no label to define us,
no words to give shape to our bond,
and so, my hurt was invisible,
a silent ache in a world that never knew.

we lived in the shadows,
and in the shadows, we died,
our love a fleeting dream,
never destined to see the light.
