Love is a powerful emotion.

It can overwhelm us.

But loving someone is not merely a feeling.

Loving someone starts with a decision.

Magnus

Magnus lay in a large, very comfortable bed. It was most certainly not his own. It was far too cosy for that. He buried his face deeper into the soft pillow and sighed contentedly. The silky sheets were pleasant and cool against his skin. It was simply heavenly, and he silently wished never to leave this bed again.

Then he noticed that he was not alone. Someone was lying behind him. For a brief moment, he was startled. Then he caught the familiar scent that reminded him of forest walks and summer rain. He knew that unique fragrance. It was Alec's.

Magnus blinked. How could this be? Was he dreaming? Were all the other memories just a long nightmare?

"Good morning," Alec mumbled sleepily, his lips gently grazing Magnus' neck right above the mating bite. Magnus was surprised that he could still feel the alpha mark. That was a good sign, wasn't it? A smile played on his lips, and all the dark images of the past days, weeks, months, if not years, faded into a distant memory.

"Good morning, Darling," he replied.

Magnus tried to turn around to give Alec a kiss, but the alpha tightened his arms around him, as if he never wanted to let go.

"Not yet," Alec gently pleaded, murmuring the words against his shoulder. "It's just so cosy right now."

A soft chuckle escaped Magnus.

"So, you don't want a kiss?" he playfully inquired.

"Later," came Alec's sleepy response.

Magnus hummed. He closed his eyes and savoured the precious moment of togetherness.

The next time Magnus opened his eyes, Alec was gone, and so was the cosy bed

The next time Magnus opened his eyes, Alec was gone, and so was the cosy bed. Instead, he found himself in a long, gloomy tunnel. He looked around. Where was he? Sadness enveloped him as he realized that the beautiful moment had been nothing more than a dream. Confused, Magnus glanced in both directions of the endless tunnel. Which way should he go? Before he could make a decision, he heard a distant voice calling his name. Over and over.

"Magnus. Magnus. Magnus."

Was it his alpha? Was it Nate?

Magnus listened, but the sound of the voice was distorted. Who was calling for him? There was only one way to find out. Magnus set himself in motion and followed the persistent echoes of his name, with a mix of fear and concern in his heart.
