CHAPTER TWENTY:
❝︎Return Of The Jedi❞︎ALASKA SAT IN THE STILES BEDROOM, WATCHING THE TELEVISION WITH NARROWED EYES AS THE CREDITS ROLLED. She took a moment to process what she had just watched before turning her head to look at Stiles who was already looking at her expectantly. When she had told Stiles she'd never seen Star Wars, he had been quick to change that. Seeing as it was a Saturday and neither of them had anything better to the do, they took the day to watch the original trilogy that was made in the 90s. Alaska had just finished Return of the Jedi, and if she was being completely honest, she didn't know how to feel.
"Well?" Stiles asked.
Alaska pursed her lips. "Well. . . I mean. . . it was okay."
"Okay?" Stiles asked in disbelief. "Okay? That is one of the best film franchises! And you're saying it's just okay?"
"Stiles, I told you when we started this that I wasn't an action movie kind of girl." Alaska said, an amused smile pulling at her lips with how frustrated he was getting. "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion."
Stiles stood, removing the movie from the television. "Well, your opinion is wrong."
Alaska chuckled. "I'm sorry! I just wasn't all that impressed. It was good, don't mistake me on that, but it wasn't my favorite."
"Alright, then what's your favorite movie?" Stiles challenged. "And I swear to God if you say Titanic I'm kicking you out of my house." Alaska pressed her lips into a thin line and Stiles closed his eyes. "Oh my God, I'm living with an insane person."
"It's such a good movie!" Alaska claimed. "But, to be fair, I don't watch a lot of movies. I've only seen a handful."
Stiles put his hands on his hips, narrowing his eyes at her. "How many is a handful?" Silently, Alaska began to count on her hands before holding up one hand with all five fingers. "Five. You've only seen five movies. How is that even possible?"
"I wasn't really allowed to watch TV. And three of those movies are the ones I just watched with you, so if you don't count those then two."
"So you've seen Titanic and. . . ?"
"And I've seen The Notebook."
Stiles stared at her, left eye twitching slightly. "I thought Scott was bad, but you're so much worse. Do you understand that in order for me to even attempt to catch you up on all of the great movies that have been made, we'd have to watch like fifteen a day."
Alaska pushed the hair from her face, brows furrowing as she tried to think. "Well, what if we do a movie night maybe twice a week? That would be a start. Maybe Mondays and Thursdays when we both get home we just watch one movie on both of those nights."
Stiles huffed. "Fine." He mumbled to himself, "Only seen five movies. Whose only ever seen five movies?" Stiles sighed and shook his head, walking into his bathroom as he began brushing his teeth. "So, what's been going on with you and Liam? Scott says he's been acting a little too happy as of late."
Alaska bit her lips as she tried to repress her smile. "Um, well, we started officially dating. . . I think?"
Stiles poked his head out of the doorway, looking at her with furrowed brows. "You think? What do you mean you think?"
"Well, we kissed, and I told him I wanted to see where things went, but neither of us technically asked the other out but we have been holding hands a lot, and we spend a lot of time together, and we've kissed on many occasions but. . . there's no label."
Stiles exited the bathroom, looking at her in disbelief. "You've been something for, what, a week, two weeks? And you're telling me he hasn't officially asked you out?" Alaska shook her head. "Want me to knock some sense into him?"
Alaska chuckled, shaking her head. "I will not be giving you a reason to hit him. Besides, I'm sure he'll ask eventually."
"You could always ask." Stiles shrugged.
Alaska frowned. "Well, doesn't the guy usually ask the girl out?"
"Yes," Stiles nodded, walking over to the bed and sitting on the edge of it. Alaska tucked her feet underneath her. "However, you could always break society norms and do it yourself. If you want to have a label, that is."
Alaska messed with her hands nervously. "You don't think that'll ruin things if I try to put a label on it?"
Stiles looked at her for a moment before saying, "If Liam really likes you as much as he says he does, then it wouldn't ruin anything. And if it does, then maybe that's a conversation you need to have with him."
Alaska hummed. She furrowed her brows, looking at him. "How do you know so much about this stuff? No offense, but you were honestly the last person I would think would give me serious relationship advice."
"Well, I was in a relationship myself, you know." Stiles told her. "I'd tell you to ask Scott about this stuff, but if I'm being honest he doesn't exactly have the best track record. Remember that conversation we had the other night? About how I tried to help where I can?" Alaska nodded. "I can't fight the battles Scott and the others do, I can give them the information and send them on their way. But this. . . this I can help with. Like you said, us humans have to stick together, right?"
A small smile formed on Alaska's face as she nodded. "Right."
"So, talk to him about it. And, who knows, maybe it'll turn out the way it should turn out."
Alaska furrowed her brows. "And how should it turn out?"
"The way that you want it to."
Alaska made her way to her room, getting herself ready for bed before crawling under the blankets. She took a moment to think about everything Stiles and said and gently smiled to herself. She decided that tomorrow she was going to take the leap and she was going to ask Liam to be her boyfriend.
