The next day Mira woke up in bed at her hotel room. Her head felt heavy. She did not remember much about her journey to her hotel the previous night barring the fact that she had been neatly escorted to her room. She opened her eyes and found Rina anxiously waiting at her bedside with a glass of water and an aspirin tablet. As soon as she woke up Rina gave her the tablet asking her to take it immediately as that it would relieve her headache.
Seeing the puzzled as well as angry look on Rina's face Mira could make out that some hard hitting questions especially about Kabir were to be bombarded upon her. A chill ran down her spine yet she was all charged up for the outrage.
"Good Morning Miru, where were you last night???"she questioned.
"On a stroll! I meaan jussssst a bit" she said hesitatingly.
She was actually waiting for the big one to come....
"Miru, sweetheart the reason why I asked this in particular is because you were a bit high the last night probably that's why you couldn't even come up to the room alone, I was worried "
"Yeah, I guess may be last night " she said softly before she could continue.
"Thank God! the bell boy downstairs at the lobby was there to escort you to the room."she said reassuringly
"The bell boy! " Mira exclaimed with a puzzled face.
"Yeah, the bell boy brought you here."
He said you were looking a bit high, he found you sitting in the lobby. He even said that you were calling out to somebody.
You were saying, "Thank you, thank you very much KKKK...........ir" it was for the room keys in your purse that he could get to our room" she said.
Mira was a bit shocked. However she didn't show much of this on her face.
Rina went on......
"So what were you saying who KKKK......ir and where exactly were you last night???" she said looking a bit upset
" A guy....Kabir, we kinda became friends the day before yesterday and I went out with him yesterday ummm actually road trip to New York."
"What you made a KINDA, new friend here went with him to New York!!!! and didn't even bother to tell me..???
"I am sorry, but you were with Sameer rather so into Sameer I thought I shouldn't bother you, besides I am not dating him . OK! so I just thought he was not that important to discuss!!"
"Oh I see he was not that important you are not DATING him but still you actually went all by yourself with him to New York ??? Since when you know him by the way ???" She asked almost losing her temper.
"Look, don't interrogate me like this I never ask you about any of your plans with Sameer or anybody and besides when you have left me all by myself in this new place and I have to look after everything all by myself you have no right to question me like this." said Mira adamantly
Rina was shocked and somewhat hurt. She had never heard Mira being so rude. But may be it was the concern she had for Mira that even then she audaciously went on.
" And who is he some sort of a rogue or what??? said Rina angrily.
"Stop it Rina! You don't even know him. How can u be so judgmental about him...."said Mira annoyingly.
"Yes I don't know him but isn't it basic chivalry that he should have escorted you neatly to the room at least at the time when you were not even able to help yourself??? I mean at least that much courtesy anybody does show when you have a Girl as a companion don't you think so??? She asked emphatically.
Mira was silent. She couldn't say a word as she herself was not aware why Kabir had not left her directly at her room.
Something was fishy, and she could sense that. But unfortunately she couldn't even get back at Rina as she herself didn't remember what had happened and most importantly HOW?????
Rina felt a bit disgusted and chose to leave. The loud noise of the door banging on behind her could tell that she was really very upset.
Mira needed answers, she was somewhere confident that he surely might have a concrete reason for his odd behavior. But the patience to wait back, till she actually got these answers, is what lacked in her!
She immediately picked up her cell and gave Kabir a call.
The bell was ringing.
Nobody answered at the other end though.
She felt irritated or more to say annoyed and made calls after calls yet
NO ANSWER...........
