Alone Or Lonely?

A DATE TO REMEMBER!

The next morning was beautiful. Everything about it was unique, the best one being that Mira had barely slept the previous night, yet her face showed the signs of that typical glow, after a beauty sleep.

" Well, well good morning!" Said Rina as she stepped out of bed.
"O my my..
Look at U... You look different " exclaimed Rina in awe.

" The good different or the bad!"

"Of course the good one. Is it thanks to the sleep or the thing that happened before the sleep!"

" Yeah, I guess it's him. You know I've been so excited, I can still sense butterflies hovering in my stomach."

Aha you bet! The way you narrated me yesterday's incident of you two on a cozy little date thing in his room, I bet he is gonna be someone important very soon, Rina teased.

"Oh no no..! It was not any sort of date. I have been out with him before."

"So, then why this amount of excitement?"

" I don't know Ri, it's kinda confusing. I have never had this feeling before not even when we went out for the first time. "

"Well, then find out. Go and seek your answers lady." She said.
"I won't be disturbing you anymore, you get ready and leave. I'll catch up on Sammy"

This was like a trigger in itself. The corridor was silent, seemed like the day had not yet started for many. She quickly brushed and showered. Like every other girl, she too got stuck up on one thing...
What to wear??
Finally after giving it several thoughts she ended up in an elegant wear, a simple floral print dress and went downstairs to wait for him. Being a gentleman, he proved to be true to his word.
8 AM sharp he was there. Technically, Mira's reaction seeing him should have been a sweet smile with a tinge of excitement. But in this case, there indeed was a smile, or rather amusement.

This Handsome stranger cum gentleman had come up in a dark blue colored track suit and white Nike shoes, very graciously to pick up his lady on a bicycle!

" Hey Mira, look at you! You look fantastic and smell even more fantastic " he said casually coming closer to brush his cheek on to hers.

" Wish I could say the same thing about you!!" she said giggling.

"Excuse me, you are behaving rude miss!" he said somewhat sulking.

"Sorry, I actually didn't mean to laugh at you. It's just that I found it a little wierd, you in a track suit on a bicycle, taking me on a date!"

"Is this a Date??" he asked rather amused.

"Yeah, I mean I presume so!"

"Well, I don't know about that but as far as my clothes go, Mira I  dress to express not to impress"

"Ohh is it! Then what do you have to express today, mister?" she asked casually.

" That I am at ease with you. Also that I am ensured that you will be the same with me, no matter what clothes I am in! " he said wittily.

Mira was awestruck. She was lost for words. Somebody, had made her speechless after a real long time...

" Well, I must say you know this magic of words too well ha'!" she said almost trying to hide that little blush that made way from her eyes, to lips and finally her cheeks.
" My thoughts are no magic Mira. Just a dial from my heart to others... here Yours! By the way, I don't intend to satiate my hunger with just talks, shall we get going please" he chuckled.

They set off on his bicycle across the street, and finally had a halt at a roadside cafe. They ordered some routine stuff quickly and waited for it to be served.
Mira was desperate to start a conversation.

" Shall I ask you something, if you don't mind? " she said.

" Yeah, sure. As far as I am able to answer or at least in a position to answer I really don't mind entertaining your questions, Mira" he said vaguely.

" Why were you so sure that I would be the same with you irrespective of anything?"

" A wild guess!"
" I beg your pardon!!"

" No I mean just see for yourself, we hardly knew each other but still we managed to go on a road trip, all by ourselves. Isn't this in itself an achievement?? "

"Ya, U bet! But at that time for me it was simple;
Ones a lone, twos a company" she said.

" Then why is it not that simple for you now?" he asked curiously.

She was silent for a while, her face turned sideways just to avoid an eye contact with him. Her mind was silent, but heart seemed like going in for double shifts. A lot was going on in there, a lot of processing, filtering and weighing before it came as an output.

" I don't know Kabir. It's like a girl lost in a jungle, desperately searching for a path to get out. Once she finds that path, is it fair that you expect the girl not to chase it?"

" No of course not. Ummm...hey wait I am the path!!"

" Yes you are. I don't know but somehow it is just something within you that I am attached to. "
Those words did mean something. There was a spark in each of the two pair of eyes that now seemed collinear and intersecting!! He raised his hand as though to caress hers, just when a waiter came up with food.
It was as though some electricity between two bodies had suddenly been cut off. Nevertheless, the food looked yum and both decided to give a dig in. The noises suddenly seemed to die down and both looked much engrossed in their own food.
This awkward tension had to be broken soon.

" So how's your work?? When are you leaving for home? " enquired Mira as she cleared their bill.

" It's going great. I might be leaving in the next two days! "

Mira was in a state of mixed emotions, and was lost for words.
" Ohh... Even we might be leaving around the same time soon. Don't you think we should make the most of this remaining period?" she said vaguely.

" No, Mira please. I had agreed upon this just for your sake but try and understand, I just can't do this any longer! " he said somewhat with pity.

" Why? If this was for my sake then why not the thing i asked you for now??Okay, not entire of the remaining time but this full day please! I feel I at least deserve this much, our association deserves this much, please...Besides I guess your work is also almost done, so no excuse of work!.. Please" she begged him.
Something in him shook, he couldn't see her like that. Finally, after much ado about nothing he agreed and politely asked;
" Where would you like to go ?"

Almost anywhere you take me!
Came out a distinct yet somewhat confident reply from the feminine voice in front of him.
