A huge shock flashed on their faces together at the same time.
" What nonsense I have been here before and I have met him in his room. Why are you lying?" Mira asked furious.
" No mam, why would I lie? You are surely mistaken." said the receptionist maintaining as calm a tone as she could.
But this calmness could no longer be maintained by the girl standing in front of her.
The awkward glances of shock and amusement that Ri and Sammy exchanged made Mira more uncomfortable and distraught.
" No guys believe me, I have been here and I know he is lodging on the seventh floor, room no 7004." she said almost being breathless.
" Excuse me, mam! Sorry to interrupt you people again but that room has been vacant since the last two weeks." said the receptionist.
It felt as though that day was supposed to be a shock bearer for all of them, as there was a series of shocks that came there way.
" No it is not possible. Just let me go and check on by myself." she said desperately trying to make an attempt to free herself from the clutches of her friends who had tightly confined her within the grips of their arms.
" Leave me guys, I know he's here." she screamed.
The other guests in the hotel were as bewildered as her own friends with this change of behavior. Nevertheless she didn't mind it this time. All that mattered to her at the present moment was to trace the guy.
After a series of arguments and counter arguments between the two parties, the threesome headed to the much acclaimed room.
To the couple's sweet surprise and Mira's ultimate shock the receptionist was indeed right! The door was locked and so was Mira's mind. She had no clue as to what she would do next just to get a glimpse of her man.
Before she could even react to the recent acquired stimulus, Rina and Sameer took a step forward and almost literally dragged her outside of the lobby.
She made numerous calls to him even dropped a few messages but all of them were unanswered.
Mira's world seemed to tumble upside down within matter of few minutes. For her convincing just two people about a third guy could have been considerably easy but here in this case, it seemed a lot more difficult as the mere existence of this third guy had posed a question.
" You have to believe me guys, he is here. Wait a minute, you people do trust me right?" she asked it all in a go.
" Miru dear! We do trust you, at least that's what our heart says at the moment. But then the eyes, you can't deny whatever you yourself have seen right?" Rina asked in an utmost sarcastic tone.
Mira was short of words. A lot of ideas were running up and down her mind at that time, but seeing the attitude of the people closed to her she felt it best to keep those to herself and bring solid proofs before boasting them of in front of those practical nerds!
"C'mon Miru, let's go! We still have to pack our stuff."said Rina casually.
This triggered Mira even more.
"How can you let go off it so easily Ri?" she asked.
" Mira sweetheart, there's nothing that makes me cling on to it"
" Yeah right, nothing that keeps you hooked to it. Would you have reacted in the same way if it was Sammy in his place?"
Rina had definitely not seen this coming from her. She was speechless for a second.
"Don't get personal Miru." she blurted.
" This is God damn personal! This is personal." she reverted back in fury.
"I have been with him every minute. The way I have felt for him, I have literally not felt like that for anyone before. I can't, I just can't let go off him like this. I won't be able to explain it to you any further. You won't understand."she said.
" Stop it you girls!" shouted Sammy out of frustration.
"Do you guys always need a reminder of the fact that you are indeed good friends?"
Both the girls were astonished, seeing the otherwise silent Sameer go haywire. They immediately became silent.
After much insistence by Sameer they finally decided to go ahead and finish up their brunch. Before wrapping up some quality time together, seemed like the most probable choice to just ease out the awkward friction generated between them. A detox was also, very much necessary for flushing out all the negativity that surrounded them before their grand exit from the States.
.............................................................
The recent incident, that turned out to be a major shock for all of them had left an impression so grave that maybe it deterred them off their hunger.
" Some sandwiches and coffee please" ordered Sameer.
Rina and Mira remained silent all this while, one because of the other in some nor the other way.
Suddenly as though a coma patient coming back to life, Mira fisted together all her senses, searched around and called for a waiter.
" Yes mam, what can I get you?"
" Some good wine." She didn't even bother to look at the two in her front, as she could already visualize what their reactions would be.
" Certainly"
The sandwiches and coffee were immediately served and the three didn't even bother to wait for the other to grace the food as everyone of them was hungry in their own way.
As it can rightly be put, food is the best way to satiate hunger. Not just the one that burns up in the belly but sometimes also the ones that ignite up in our minds. The hunger for answers, the hunger for peace, the hunger for calmness, the hunger to throw away any growing tension and a lot like these are all eased out with food.
After food, it was time to indulge in some quality wine.
" Miru look we completely understand what you are going through, but wine is no way to deal with this. Just talk to us. Let it all out, but drinking like this in the morning is just not you babes." said Rina out of concern.
" Talk! Talk really??" she exclaimed, literally laughing it off like a joke.
" Ms. Rina when the hell have we last had a real talk, can you please recollect that for me?" she said hurriedly sipping off the wine from a glass.
" When was it last that you actually showed that you really cared about me? You all are the same. You all have always held me for granted. I am literally besieged by all of you."
She went on yelling. At a point it became difficult to guess whether it was the wine or she herself that was doing the talking. Nevertheless, after long minutes of shouting she suddenly became quiet and collapsed on the table.
