It was certainly not a good night sleep for Mira, as an unending chain of thoughts kept on invading her mind, and all she could merely perform is relative motion between the pillow and herself!
The next day, finally knocked on, the routine clock was almost set for many, except Mira, who still seemed a bit reluctant to get out of bed!
Well, this inertia of hers was quickly overcome by the hot cup of brewing coffee that Rina had got for her!
" Hey, Miru wake up sweetheart! Look, what an exciting morning it is!"
" Mornin'! When did u get back to the room, I assume you slept late yet manage to look really fresh!"
" Yeah, I did get into bed late, but not alone sweetie!" She chuckled.
Oh so that's the secret!
" You did it!" Mira screamed in amusement.
" No silly, I meant I slept with a plan, a plan I made for the four of us, for today!"
There was a sudden change in Mira's face. The amusement that it adorned a few seconds ago was now showing off signs of disappointment!
" No Rina. He says he won't be able to come."
" What a party pooper, the guy is!"
" No don't blame him. You guys don't spoil the mood, carry on. We may join you later."
It took a good half an hour, for Mira to convince Rina to go ahead with her plan with just the two of them. Finally when she agreed, it didn't even take her half the amount of time to get ready and leave.
It was not a new feeling, that Mira had and by now she had learned to cater to herself. After a relaxing shower and quick change of clothes she was finally ready to start her day.
She had her breakfast in a small cafe downtown and then began sketching her plans for the day.
Going shopping seemed like the best probable option.
Soon she landed in a mall and was busy browsing through a lot of items that caught her eye. The best pastime for any girl has always been shopping, and it proved to be nothing different for Mira as well. From dresses to accessories to stilettoes to beauty care products, she picked up almost all of them. Hundreds of dollars were being added to her bill on one hand and even much more items were piling up in her shopping cart on the other hand.
Time seemed to pass by in a frenzy and the afternoon alarm gave a bell hinting towards the lunch time.
She had enough of spending private time shopping and now was certainly in no mood of having a lone lunch!
For a change, Mira decided to go to Kabir's place and give him a surprise with lunch. She went to a nearby restaurant and quickly got some salmon, soup, noodles and rice packed and headed for Kabir's hotel.
Recalling the fact that he did mention about having some important work to finish, it seemed as a rare possibility for Mira to catch up with him in his hotel room. Nevertheless, she didn't mind giving it a shot...
The hotel was in plush and exquisite locality. A big fountain was situated at the centre of the main entrance to the hotel. The guests lodging in the hotel seemed like little VIPs in themselves for they literally got such facilities in there.
Soon Mira took to the elevator and was heading up towards his room. He stayed on the fourth floor as per the reception desk information she could access.
She reached his room, the door was slightly open. She pushed the door and went in. It was a very well organised room, which was a first that Mira had seen for any boy! No doubt even a layman would be impressed and so was Miru!!
Now her eyes desperately wandered around searching for this man, who had managed to intrigue her within such a short span.
There within a small corner of his room, he had set up a sort of small gym. It comprised of a few dumbels, a treadmill and some aerobics or yoga stuff that Mira couldn't exactly make out. She wanted to get a closer view.
"Hey, are you stalking me?"
Came a rough voice from behind her that seemed very close to her ear. Almost startled, she turned around just to stumble upon Kabir.
Good gracious, he caught her in the Nick of time and wrapped his arms around her waist, very heroically saving her from tripping down.
" My hero! "
" Excuse me!!"
" I mean, thank you for saving me"
"No need to be grateful. It was my pleasure, lady." He chuckled with a sensuous smirk.
" Yet, you didn't answer me. Are you stalking me? " He emphasized being yet more persistent this time.
"Yeah, I wish I could!" She chuckled silently.
I beg your pardon
" Umm.. No I mean I just came with lunch, I hope you've not had it already!"
" No infact, you just arrived in time, I was just about to order something."
They were soon seated on a cozy little dining table in the corner of the room. It was a beautifully carved piece of furniture from pure mahogany. Most of its surface area was vacant, just apart from an ash tray and two bottles of wine placed in an ice bucket that lay at the centre of the table.
" Is it really this lunch, Mira for which you came all the way here?"
" Bringing lunch was just part of courtesy, I came in to keep a check on you. !"
" What do you mean? "
She gave off a cunning smile seeing the frightened look on his face.
The need for an answer was rightly evident in his dark piercing eyes, and once he set them on her she couldn't help but speak out.
I was alone for lunch. I sent my love birds to enjoy their free time and somehow couldn't resist myself from coming to you.
His suave eyes were gloomed to her face, as though still wanting to know more.
" You should not have come here, Mira" he said bluntly.
Mira was shocked, this was one thing she had not expected at all. Somewhere there was a little anger, of not being appreciated but more than that she was heartbroken!
Gathering her bits, and yet not losing hope she decided to give it another go.
"Why is it so?" She asked firmly.
" Because we know nothing of each other. We are as good as two strangers, and strangers do not meet often!"
Then please let's get to know each other, she begged.
" No Mira, there's nothing to know about me. I am a dark mystery for you, let me be that"
" I can't let you be like that, especially after that night!! " she screamed letting all her frustration out in one go.
Not especially when I really want to know where and why did you leave me in that state.
" I couldn't come Mira. I just couldn't be with you any more."
His words were wierd yet intense. They seemed stupid yet honest. She could not take her eyes of him.
" You intimidate me."
" I know I might sound stupid to you, but trust me." he said earnestly.
" I trust you but more than that I really want to know you. If you really want me to forgive you for what you did to me that night, then I would like to take you out tomorrow. Treat is on me, and trust me you don't have any option but to say yes... " she eyed him with a spark in her eyes.
He was silent for a few seconds, not knowing what to say.
But then as though giving it a second thought he said Okay.
Tomorrow, 8am brunch date
I'll pick you up!
