Chapter 13 : Scandalous

You were jolted awake by the relentless sound of your phone alarm.

In a vain attempt to escape the noise, you pulled a pillow over your head, muffling the insistent blare.

The previous night, you and Mihawk had stayed up until 2am, savoring the wine samples and brainstorming ideas for Shanks' bachelor party, and now the morning seemed unfairly early.

Reluctantly, you peeked out from under your pillow to glance at the time.

It was already 6:00 am. With a heavy sigh, you realized the busy morning that lay ahead.

You needed to prepare breakfast and pack lunchboxes for the kids, tackle the household chores, and somehow find time for your morning workout routine.

The day was starting, ready or not, and you pushed yourself out of bed to face it.

You rose from bed, reaching immediately for your glasses, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

After washing your face and brushing your teeth, you slipped into a fluffy bathrobe and secured your hair in your signature bun, ready to tackle the tasks ahead.

Stepping quietly down the stairs to avoid disturbing the still-slumbering household, you made your way to the kitchen to begin the morning routine.

With school starting at 8:00 AM, you were mindful that the kids needed to be up in about 45 minutes, giving you just enough time to prepare their breakfast and pack their lunchboxes.

As you gathered the ingredients, you hummed softly to yourself, a calming melody to set the tone for the morning.

You began chopping vegetables and assembling what was needed for a nutritious start to their day.

The quiet of the morning was broken by the pitter-patter of small feet.

Turning around, you saw Perona rubbing her eyes as she descended the stairs, her hair tousled from sleep.

"Good morning, sweetie," you greeted her with a warm smile, setting aside the knife and wiping your hands on a kitchen towel.

"Morning, Mama," Perona yawned, walking over to hug your leg.

You stroked her hair gently, appreciating these small moments of affection.

"Did you sleep well?" you asked, guiding her to a seat at the kitchen island where you had already set up a small plate of freshly sliced fruit.

"Yes, but I missed you last night," Perona mumbled through a mouthful of apple slices.

You chuckled softly, "I was just downstairs, getting a little work done. But now, I'm all yours. Are you excited for school today?"

Perona nodded, her energy slowly returning as she ate more of the fruit.

Meanwhile, you returned to your cooking, flipping pancakes on a skillet and checking on the scrambled eggs simmering beside them.

The sizzle of the eggs and the sweet smell of pancakes filled the kitchen, a comforting aroma that soon attracted more members of the household.

Zoro shuffled in next, followed by a yawning Luffy, who still seemed half-asleep but perked up at the sight of food.

"Morning, guys! Breakfast will be ready in just a bit. Go wash up, and we'll all eat together," you directed them, your voice carrying the authority and warmth of someone who had seamlessly taken on the role of caretaker.
