It was 7:00 AM, and the sun was shining on the Sea of Sand, making it appear golden. In the wrecked pirate vessel, the Destiny's Bounty, all was quiet... until Master Wu banged his gong, disturbing the ninjas' peaceful slumber. The loud, long, resonating sound of the disruptive object rang through the room, prompting the ninjas to groan in annoyance.

"Evil doesn't sleep, and neither should you!" Wu called out.

The room the ninjas claimed had three bunk beds. Zane and Cole took the bottom bunks, Kai and Jay took the top ones, and Felix claimed the top of the last bunk. They all let out cranky groans and pulled their blankets over their heads, trying to block out their mentor's racket. Felix was so drowsy that when she stretched, she forgot she was on the top bunk, and she fell to the floor with a loud thud. Everyone paused. "I'm okay," she mumbled lazily. "The dirt's soft."

"In order to reach your full potential, we must greet each day as an opportunity."

"Okay, okay, we're up," Kai yawned, finally getting up. "But if you want us to reach our full potential, shouldn't we at least get a full night of rest?" He went to open the window blind, but it broke and fell off.

"You call that rest?" Cole groaned, stretching his back. "I think my back has more lumps than the mattress."

"We were up so late talking about how cool it is to have a new headquarters, I guess we lost track of time," Jay sighed as he went to the sink. He turned the on faucet, but failed to notice that sand came out instead of water. "Since the Serpentine burned down the monastery, I'm just glad we have a roof over our head..." He started brushing his teeth and spat it out when he realized the toothpaste was covered in dirt.

"What is our lesson today, Sensei?" Zane asked eagerly. "Mastering the strike of the scorpion? Or perhaps the grace of—" He was cut off when the floorboards beneath his feet broke from his weight and his legs got stuck. He wasn't hurt, but it kicked up a lot of dust, making him cough as the others pulled him up.

"I think today's lesson should be... chores," Wu announced.

"Chores?!" The ninjas stared at him in disbelief.

"Ninjas fight, Sensei," Cole protested. "They do not clean."

"In order to respect ourselves, we must respect our new home and where we are from," Wu explained. "And this place is a long way from becoming a ninja headquarters. I expect things to be spotless when I return. And do put your backs into it." With that, he left to run an errand with Nya, leaving the ninjas to fix the shipwreck.

"This place is gonna take forever to clean and fix up," Kai complained.

"Unless we put more than our backs into it," Jay suggested. "Huh?"

The rest of the day, the ninjas used their Spinjitzu and the Golden Weapons to clean and repair the Bounty. Master Wu, being the type to discourage his students from abusing their abilities for simple things like chores, probably wouldn't have approved of this, but he never found out.

Cole cleared out all the old junk from the ship and put it outside with a "free stuff" sign. Zane and Kai used their weapons to wash the interior, with Zane using his shurikens to freeze the rooms over and Kai using the sword to melt the ice into water. They then moved on to the machinery, and Jay started up the main generator with his nunchucks, while Felix finished with the motherboard. Finally, they all went outside to the deck, where Felix used her sais and Spinjitzu to clear away the sand and dust.

Some time later, when Nya and Master Wu came back, they found the five ninjas playing video games in the newly repaired Bounty. "What took you so long?" Kai joked.
