It was 7:00 AM. The sun was shining on the Sea of Sand, making it appear golden. In the wrecked pirate vessel, the Destiny's Bounty, all was quiet... until Master Wu banged his gong, disturbing the ninjas' peaceful slumber. The loud, long, meditative sound of the disruptive object rang through the room as the ninjas groaned in displeasure.
"Evil doesn't sleep, and neither should you!" Wu spoke loudly.
The room the ninjas had claimed had three bunk beds. Zane and Cole took the bottom, Kai and Jay took the top, and Felix took the top bunk of the last one. They all groaned crankily and pulled their blankets over their heads in annoyance, trying to drown out their mentor's noise. Felix was so drowsy that when she stretched, she forgot she was on the top bunk, and she fell to the floor with a loud thud. Everybody paused. "I'm okay." She murmured in a droning tone. "The dirt's soft."
"In order to reach your full potential, we must greet each day as an opportunity."
"Okay, okay, we're up." Kai yawned, getting up. "But if you want us to reach our full potential, shouldn't we at least get a full night of rest?" He went to the window to open the blind, but it broke and fell off.
"You call that rest?" Cole groaned, stretching his back. "I think my back has more lumps than the mattress."
"We were up so late talking about how cool it is to have a new headquarters, I guess we lost track of time." Jay sighed, going to the sink. He turned the faucet on but failed to notice that sand came out instead of water. "Since the Serpentine burned down the monastery, I'm just glad we have a roof over our head..." He started to brush his teeth and spit it out when he realized the toothpaste was covered in dirt.
"What is our lesson today, Sensei?" Zane asked eagerly. "Mastering the strike of the scorpion? Or perhaps the grace of--" He cut off when the floor boards beneath his feet broke from his weight and his legs got stuck. He wasn't hurt, but it kicked up a lot of dust, and Zane coughed as the others pulled him up.
"I think today's lesson should be... chores." Wu informed.
"Chores?!" The ninjas looked at him in disbelief.
"Ninjas fight, Sensei." Cole denied. "They do not clean."
"In order to respect ourselves, we must respect our new home and where we are from." Wu explained. "And this place is a long way from becoming a ninja headquarters. I expect things to be spotless when I return. And do put your backs into it." He then leaves to run an errand with Nya, leaving the ninjas to fix the entire shipwreck.
"This place is gonna take forever to clean and fix up." Kai grumbles.
"Unless we put more than our backs into it." Jay hinted. "Huh?"

For the rest of the day, the ninjas used their Spinjitzu and the Golden Weapons to clean and repair the Bounty. Master Wu, being the type to encourage his students not to abuse their abilities for simple things like chores, probably wouldn't have approved of this, but he never found out.
Cole cleaned all the old junk out of the ship and put it outside with a "free stuff" sign. Zane and Kai used their weapons to wash the inside, as Zane used the shurikens to freeze over the rooms and Kai used the sword to melt the ice into water. They then moved on to the machinery, and Jay used his nunchucks to start up the main generator, turning everything on, while Felix finished up with the motherboard. Finally, they all went outside to the deck, and Felix used her sais and Spinjitzu to clear the Bounty of sand and dust.
Some time later, when Nya and Master Wu came back, they found the five ninjas playing video games in the newly repaired Bounty. "What took you so long?" Kai asked playfully.
