It had been a few weeks since Lord Garmadon escaped from the Underworld, but no one has seen him since, so everyone has been pretty chill lately.
It was a sunny day, but the Monastery of Spinjitzu seemed quiet. Master Wu was meditating in his room when he heard his students nearby. It sounded like they were fighting, so he went to the training yard to check on them, only to find it empty. He followed the voices to the real source: the games room. All five ninjas were there, playing video games.
"Zane!" Jay exclaimed. "Why are you wasting your special attack on me?! You have to save it!"
"Oh, great!" Felix said sarcastically. "I'm running out of lives!"
"But the lesson lives on." Zane followed. "And I'm getting the hang of it."
"Well, you don't have to rub it in."
As the ninjas continued the game, they were oblivious to Master Wu standing right there. Suddenly, the TV screen went dark, and they all turned to him, displeased.
"Aw, man!" Cole complained.
"What?! What happened?!" Jay followed.
"It took us three hours to get there."
"Ah! Sensei!" Felix stressed. "I've only had three go's today!"
"Why would you do that?! Why?!" Jay whined.
"Just because Lord Garmadon escaped through a vortex doesn't mean he won't return one day for the Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu!" Wu scolded. His students were still young and had much to learn, and he didn't want them to waste it by goofing off all day.
"But, Sensei Wu," Zane responded. "Ever since he's been gone, Ninjago has had nothing but peace."
"Yeah." Jay confirmed. "Peace is boring. There's no one to save; there's nothing to do."
"Can't we train tomorrow?" Kai asked.
"Never put off tomorrow what can be done today." Wu replied.
"Well, I was gonna save this pizza slice for tomorrow, but if that's the case..." Cole lies down and grabs the slice, but Wu knocks it out of his hand before he can eat it. "Ow!"
"That's not what I meant! In order to reach your full potential, you must train!"
"Uh... remember when we did a little thing called the Tornado of Creation?" Kai states. "I thought that was pretty insane."
"You five have merely scratched the surface of your full potential." Wu sighed. "There are still so many secrets you have yet to unlock! You haven't even begun to tap into what powers your Golden Weapons hold." He looks at Kai to see him heating his own pizza with the Sword of Fire.
"You wanna talk secret powers?" Cole laughed. "Check this out." He uses the Scythe of Quakes to plug the TV back in so they can keep playing their game. Master Wu is frustrated and strokes his long beard. It seems he had forgotten how difficult teenagers can be when you try to tell them to do something they don't want to do.
"Don't worry, master." Zane spoke. "We will be ready when Lord Garmadon returns."
As if on cue, Nya suddenly runs into the room, looking distressed. "Guys! Lord Garmadon! He's returned! He was spotted approaching Jamanakai Village!" It appears Zane just jinxed them.
With that, the ninjas got to their feet and raced to get themselves ready. Felix got out the door just fine, but the boys were struggling a bit. They were falling over each other and couldn't hold onto their weapons. Jay even trips, and Nya has to help him up. "Uh, th-thanks, uh--"
