once back at the house, kaia unlocks the car for everyone and runs inside, darting straight upstairs for matt's room.
she closes the door and begins tearing her clothes off and she starts ripping the tags off her new dress.
matt opens the door and quickly shuts it when he sees her standing there in only her underwear and bra.
"someone could just walk in, you know." he laughs and sits on the edge of the bed.
"okay, well you're a dude so you don't understand. i can't wear the same outfit to two seperate events and be seen by the same people. the pictures will be ruined." kaia says quickly, stepping into the new dress and pulling it all the way up her body.
"why does it matter? you look great either way." matt lays back on his mattress, still watching her.
"because i'm not wearing a two piece to a party. i'll be drunk and i don't want to flash anyone. i have to wear one dress." she adjusts the straps on her new ankle length pink dress.
"you can flash me if you need to get it out of your system." he offers with a playful smile.
"not the time." she smiles back and fixes her hair as quickly as she can.
"so, what you're saying is, you will later?" he sits up as she's almost done getting ready, just touching up her lipgloss.
"maybe if you don't do anything stupid, i will." she nods and grabs matt's hand, pulling him towards the door.
he stops her just before she can reach the door knob and holds her tightly to kiss her.
after letting go, she takes a deep breath and looks at his face.
"you need to stop rushing, ever heard of being fashionably late? stop stressing yourself out." matt says to her, holding her face still with his hands so she'll look at him while he talks.
"i know. but you realize that the sooner i get drunk, the sooner we can leave and come back home and go to bed, right?" kaia laughs.
"good point. lead the way." matt lets go of her face and she drags him by the hand downstairs to put their shoes on.
everyone was already waiting in the living room, and as soon as matt and kaia came downstairs, they all stood up to leave the house.
"you wanna drive my car or yours?" kaia asks, standing by the keys hanging on the wall.
"i'm not driving your pink car out in public." he shakes his head no.
"okay, yours it is." she tosses him the keys and everyone runs outside, climbing into matt's car.
kaia gets into the passenger's seat and matt starts the car, leaving for zeke's house.
"i can't wait to see zeke." nick smiles brightly.
"how are things going with him?" chloe asks with a teasing grin.
"pretty good. i know we're both going to prom but we haven't asked eachother yet. i think i'm gonna tonight." he answers nervously.
"well, you better hurry up. prom is the day after tomorrow." nate nudges him.
"i know, i know. don't stress me out or i won't be able to ask him." nick rolls his eyes.
"you two better not get too drunk, i don't want to have to carry anyone out." matt points to kaia and chloe, then chris because he'd be watching chloe.
"well, a little bit. i'm not gonna go crazy." kaia shrugs, smiling innocently at matt.
"keep it under control. i will cut you off." he laughs and warns her again.
"whatever you say, sir." kaia crosses her arms grumpily and looks out the window.
matt smiles and a few seconds later, chris pokes him from the seat behind.
"careful with that, kaia. matt might like it." chris teases him.
"shut the fuck up, chris. don't make shit weird." matt smacks his hand away.
kaia laughs as matt turns onto zekes road. they were about 10 minutes late, so it wasn't too packed yet.
matt parked on the road just outside of zeke's house, and everyone steps out of the car and starts walking towards the music inside.
kaia grabs matt's hand and squeezes it tightly, giving him a nervous look which he quickly understands.
"you guys keep going, we'll meet you inside in just a sec." matt tells the rest of the group, stopping on the front lawn with kaia.
"be quick, i need to take my first shot with you!" chloe says to kaia from across the yard.
they all walk inside and matt turns to her, looking down at her with a serious face.
"he's not gonna be here, if he is we'll leave right away. i promise there won't be any problems. don't even worry about last time, we're stronger than that and it will never happen again. just try to have fun, i'll be right beside you the whole night." matt places his hands on her shoulders and tries to calm her nerves.
"how did you know that's what i was worried about?" she sighs.
"i mean, look where you stopped walking. look where we're standing. it's pretty obvious." matt gestures to the grass.
"oh, shit. it is the same spot. i'm sorry, i didn't even realize. promise you're not still mad at me? i feel awful." kaia frowns and looks at him sadly.
"baby, it's in the past and we've moved on. remember what we talked about that night after the grocery store?" matt holds either side of kaia's face to stop her from looking down at her feet and feeling guilty.
"yeah. i know, i'm just so scared he's gonna show up and try to cause us a problem again." she admits and stares into matt's eyes.
"he won't. we're gonna have fun and then go home and fall asleep together like every other night. i promise." he nods and looks at kaia with a smile on his face.
"okay. i love you." the frown disappears from her face and she wraps her arms around matt's neck, going up on her tip-toes to kiss him.
"i love you most." he says just before she connects their lips in a sweet loving kiss.
after they finish, matt holds her hand tightly and they walk inside together, looking around for all their friends in the busy crowd.
they spot chris and chloe, and chris immediately points his finger to the other side of the room, matt and kaia turn their heads to see zeke and nick kissing in the corner.
