"Help me. I can't breathe!" I pleaded, unable to crawl forward.

The ventilation duct creaked and groaned as Jungkook moved his position in front of me. He gripped my upper arm, hauling me along.

"There has to be a way out soon," he said, trying to spread hopefulness for the first time during our abduction and escape. He was comforting me, which was new. It was so surprising I relaxed a little.

Suddenly, he pulled me faster than he should have been able to as if we were both sucked into a black hole.

I registered a sharp metallic bang after we had already begun falling through the ventilation duct.

Jungkook tightened his grip on me to prevent himself from crashing down. Holding onto me only worsened his situation because I was dragged down too, landing on him. We struck the floor with a clatter of broken pieces from the ventilation system.

My jaw hit some part of Jungkook, and I slammed my teeth together, the tip of my tongue in between. A taste of iron filled my mouth as I swallowed blood.

I lied on Jungkook's back, stomach, or legs.

We had gotten tangled up.

"Are you okay?" I asked when he let out a hissed breath.

He had taken most of the impact from our fall. I recovered faster, but moving was still challenging because of the tranquilizer. I did my best to get up from on top of him, trying not to use him for support since I couldn't see where I placed my hands. Despite not wanting to touch him blindly, I had to push myself to my knees using what I assumed to be his side, around the hip area. As I successfully untangled myself from Jungkook, the floor lurched beneath me, throwing me off balance and making me collide with him once more.

My elbow poked his stomach.

"Ugh," Jungkook let out through clenched teeth. "Watch it," he added in a tight voice.

What the hell had just happened? Was I so befuddled that I imagined the floor moving?

Jungkook inhaled, the kind of breath that prepares for an utterance.

"Shh," I shushed him before he could say anything.

A deep rumbling echoed in the room. It was a mechanical vibration.

"We are moving," Jungkook said. "Get up. We need to get off this thing."

He pushed me aside, shoving me so forcefully that I ended up against a wall. The wall didn't move, but the floor did. I touched the cold metal surface, my palm squeaking against it as we swept by.

There was more light than in the previous room. I could make out Jungkook's figure and some of the surrounding.

We were on a conveyor belt with walls half my height.

This was where they had produced their products back in the working days of the factory.

We could be chopped into pieces if we stayed on the line!

The rest of our group jumped down from the ceiling, not wanting to separate from me and Jungkook or suffocate in the ventilation duct. They didn't yet realize that we had already faced another danger.

A metal pillar lowered from above, stamping Jungkook.

"Ouch!" he exclaimed.

Before another piece of machinery could attack him, he scrambled up and grabbed the top of a wall. He stumbled in the direction opposite from where the conveyor belt carried him.
