I was too furious to be afraid of Hari. Her room was the first place I visited when I returned home from the hospital, and I didn't even bother to knock before barging in.
Hari was fixing her manicure. She had a machine for that.
"What is it now?" she asked, dipping her finger into gel.
I stood a little taller.
"Did you send that man to kill me?"
Hari hummed to herself, the corner of her mouth twitching.
"You don't need no man sent to you. You seem to find them on your own."
"He nearly killed your brother," I retorted, closely examining her unbothered expression.
Hari rolled her eyes.
"Stop being dramatic. Minho is alive and well."
"So, you took that risk? You hired the killer."
"No, I did not," Hari countered, inserting her finger into the machine.
"But you uploaded that video of Lucas," I pressed.
Hari let out an exasperated sigh.
"I forgot just how irritating you are. I wish you would have died. Your boyfriend, too."
A knot tightened in my stomach. Hurtful words from Hari weren't supposed to affect me, but it was awful to hear that someone wanted you dead and actually meant it. The look on her face indicated that she was serious. Her eyes flared with pure hatred.
Once the initial shock wore off, I gathered my thoughts and regained my confidence.
"You will get caught. Lucas will tell them it was you."
She scrutinized her fresh new nails as if she were a predator ready to sink them into her meal.
"Maybe he isn't as pure as you thought. Perhaps he wanted to see you dead."
"He didn't."
Hari tilted her head condescendingly.
"Idols get away with shit, you know. They aren't angels. You're such a delulu for believing the best about Lucas."
My blood boiled.
She was trying to manipulate me again, just as she had done when she claimed Sunghoon was a player.
"Don't call me delusional when you're a freaking sasaeng. Your entire life revolves around idols, yet you act as if you're superior to them," I said without thinking.
Hari abruptly stood up and pinned me against a wall, her elbow pressing into my hurt ribs.
"Do you know how difficult it is to have an idol arrested?" she hissed.
At first, I thought she meant that she couldn't have framed Lucas even if she had wanted to, but then I realized she was bragging. Hari leaned closer, her breath warm against my neck.
"If an idol from the big three can get arrested, how easily do you think you could end up behind bars?" she whispered, every word tickling my ear.
I instinctively turned my head away, cursing in my mind because the police had my phone as evidence, and I couldn't record her threats.
I cribbed Hari's arms, pushing her away.
"My family is influential. You should know because you are my sister."
Hari chuckled.
"Mike's fucking henpecked, and my mom doesn't care a shit about you. Your boyfriend will also drop you the moment dating you affects his career. You are not our family. My family has made a name for ourselves." She poked my chest with her freshly manicured fingernail. "You and your name are nothing. The only reason anyone will ever know you is as Sunghoon's ex-girlfriend."
