Here's another pretty long one. I've been quite busy lately, but I'm doing my best to keep up with the schedule. The next chapter might be a bit late as well, but after that, I should have more time to write again.

Enjoy! ^^

I stood at the top of the stairs in the Lee house, watching Sunghoon tumble down. I shook my head, only for the image to change to Minho smacking his head on the edge of a step. Blood ran down like a cascading water fountain from where his body had collapsed.

It was an appalling image. Why would I think of such a thing? No matter how hard I tried not to, my mind went back to Minho's simulation video, to when his father killed him.

At the foot of the stairs lay a limp body.

I squeezed my eyes shut, taking a deep breath.

It wasn't a body. The lump was a canvas travel bag I had accidentally dropped a minute before.

We were moving to a new apartment. I just needed to go down, grab the bag, and leave this house—and these dark thoughts—behind.

I could easily do that, except for the bloody image. It loomed over every other thought, like a curtain drawn before a window.

It was worse than a VR simulation. This time, my mind tormented me on its own, without any sensors attached to my body. It made it all the more terrifying like I was slowly losing control.

I grabbed the luggage. It was light, only containing everyday items like a toothbrush, face creams, and the bedding I had used for my last night at the Lee house. It fitted easily into Mike's trunk, where we stuffed the last few things that hadn't been boxed and taken by the movers.

The people outside our house tried to follow us and figure out where we were going. JYPE bodyguards did their best to keep the crowd at bay. Some of the craziest stalkers must have already known that our new address was in a fenced apartment complex where only rich people lived.

I hadn't been to the place yet, but Mike had sent me pictures. As we drove, I scrolled through them absentmindedly.

Minho made a weird sound in the front seat, between a groan and a squeak. I could tell he struggled to exist from the way he lolled his head to the side, sliding it against the headrest. Had he taken his meds?

Mike glanced at Minho but decided to distract everyone by talking about something else.

"So, Filina, will you meet Sunghoon next week?"

That was possibly the worst thing to say just then. The topic would definitely not make Minho feel any better. For some reason, he had decided to dislike my boyfriend. At some point, they had gotten along well and even had a little bromance going on, but lately, he didn't have high regard for Sunghoon.

I wasn't sure I liked talking about it either. I didn't want to admit my doubts about the meeting at Belift Lab or the unrealistically hopeful ideas that crossed my mind in fleeting moments of optimism.

"I don't know if Sunghoon will be there. He just asked me to meet his manager maybe," I said because it was better not to expect too much. I didn't want to be disappointed.

Mike switched lanes, checking the blind spot before turning the wheel.

"How does that make sense?"

"Belift Lab will probably make me sign an NDA or something."

Mike frowned.

"I'm coming with you. You don't even know the man that contacted you."

I slid my finger on the phone screen, looking at a picture of a glassed balcony that we would have in the new apartment.
