Luna sipped on a glass of wine as she stared around the room. The start of this event wasn't as awkward as the one before it, since everyone knew her name now. But she still felt very out of place.
Her eyes were glued to the other women in the room, trying to figure out what each of them could potentially stand for. The people, or their riches.
Mr. Tran's granddaughter caught her attention and she decided to move closer to the girl, who was moving towards the dessert table.
"Hey." Luna greeted, slightly scaring the girl who jumped in her spot and brought the hand that was reaching for a cookie behind her back.
Luna noticed her hesitance and gave her a small smile, before looking around and quickly snatching a cookie, turning her back to the other women to eat it comfortably.
Mr. Tran's granddaughter contained her laugh as she stared at her in amusement, before following what she did, snatching a small brownie for herself.
"I don't get why they have them here if we can't eat them." Luna whispered with a shake of her head as she sipped a bit of her wine.
"They're mainly for the decoration when it comes to us. If the men were here, that table would have disappeared." The girl almost whispered as she finished her brownie, covering her mouth and keeping herself facing the other way.
"I don't think I caught your name?" Luna said softly and the girl smiled at her.
"Gia." She answered softly and Luna nodded her head.
They went into a small awkward silence before Luna cleared her throat, taking another sip of her wine. "So, Gia. What are these events for...exactly?"
"It's supposed to be for us women in the families to get to know each other and hang out, but a lot of the time it's just political affairs." Gia didn't hesitate to say exactly what it was as she moved a little closer to Luna.
"My aunt over there is in talks with the queen, because she wants my cousin to marry the young princess. And Mrs. Strauss over there really doesn't like you, her daughter is the one that was supposed to marry his highness, but she's here for the gain of a new farm."
Luna hummed as she nodded her head in understanding, her eyes falling on the queen who was in an excited conversation with Gia's aunt. "So the queen hosts these for political affairs?"
"Mhm. You didn't know?"
Luna shook her head as she crossed one arm over her chest and took the last sip of her wine, placing it on an empty tray.
Gia stared at the glass in shock as Luna grabbed the bottle and poured herself another glass.
"You're not tipsy?"
Luna stopped mid-sip and tilted her head. "Am I supposed to be? It's just one glass."
"You don't get drunk after one glass?"
"...Do you?"
"I've never drank more than one glass. I was told it's not lady-like." Gia chuckled sheepishly and Luna looked at the cup in the girl's hand, seeing it still almost to the brim of champagne.
"That's... boring." Luna said honestly as she took a sip without hesitation and continued looking around the room.
Gia stared at Luna in thought before taking a sip of her own champagne.
Luna's gaze fell on the princess, who was walking over to them with her own glass of champagne.
"Hello." Princess Ari greeted as she stood next to Luna, and they both lightly bowed their heads at the princess. "This event is going to be extended until 5-"
