Luna closed the bedroom door, harshly removing her lace gloves that she said she'd never wear again. Her dark violet dress was feeling extra heavy on her body as she was trying to think of something to do about Beomgyu.
She knew that he wasn't believing her words about the queen. He probably just thinks that what she heard was about a dental procedure and not plotting for his death.
And just him thinking this way was almost making her question herself.
Maybe she assumed something horrible about the queen based off of her standoffish personality? Or maybe she assumed something horrible about the doctor based on her lack of knowledge about him.
Maybe it was the night, or her stress of being in the castle.
But no. She knew the tone of what she heard.
Luna shook her head as she took in a deep breath before sitting on the bed and closing her eyes in thought.
She questioned if she should have even told him that his own mother was plotting his death. She felt she was too outright with it, and she blamed it on her straightforwardness.
How am I supposed to prove this to him? He needed to know. He needed to know to protect himself... Telling him is all I can do, for now.
The door to the bedroom opened, making her open her eyes to see Beomgyu.
She was relieved that he didn't go back to the infirmary, but she didn't want to voice it out just yet.
She played with the gloves in her hands as he closed the door.
It was quiet as he removed his jacket and placed it on the hanger by the door, where Sandy would probably come in the morning and pick it up for dry cleaning before dropping off his new suit for the day.
Luna kept her eyes on the gloves as she tried to keep her hands from shaking out of frustration.
She understood why he had a hard time believing her, and she wasn't angry at him for it, but she was frustrated because now she had no idea what to do.
His guard was still going to be lower than it would've been if he had believed her.
"Do you need help with your dress?" He asked gently as he walked closer to her.
She didn't respond for a few seconds, before nodding her head without looking at him. "I'll ask for Sandy." She spoke as she stood up, but he gently placed his hand around her wrist, pulling her back towards the bed.
"For what? I can help."
"I'll have Sandy do it."
"Luna."
"What?" She said softly as she looked at him.
He stared in her eyes for a few seconds, before placing his hands gently against her face. "You understand why it's hard to believe right? I'm not saying that what you heard is a lie. But I just can't picture... my own mother."
"I understand." She mumbled as she looked into his eyes as well. "But I mean it. Maybe I could be wrong, but I heard it. And I just... have a feeling that- I know, that what I understood was right."
"Luna-"
"No, just... Listen to me. I just want you to be safe. I want you to be healthy, in no danger whatsoever. So, I hope you know that this isn't about any sort of resentment towards your mother or your family, but I just feel her intentions aren't as clear as you think. Just keep yourself alert." She whispered as she took his hands off her face and stood up again, but he didn't let her leave. "You don't have to pretend like you believe me."
