After Best Jeanist is done talking my ear off and styling my hair, Bakugo and I head back to the dorms. The sun has already begun to set as we reach the door of my classmates' building.
As soon as I set foot inside, I am ambushed by a group of girls. They squeal and giggle as they compliment my new hair style. Best Jeanist made it slightly shorter and my natural curls and waves have been straightened out. I feel naked without the curtain of hair in my face, too. I felt protected from the constant attention my classmates are determined to drown me with.
A few boys turn their attention to me as well, smiling supportively.
"Holy woah, Mizumi! You look so different! I almost didn’t recognize you!" I hear Midoriya gush.
The girl with pink hair and matching skin grabs my hand and tugs me away from the door excitedly. Her eyes are so beautiful. A deep shade of black and soul-piercing golden irises. "I'm Mina Ashido," she grins as she kidnaps me. The other girls introduce themselves and then some of the boys take their turns as well. My head spins as I struggle to remember so many names at one time.
"It's nice to officially meet you," I say to the room at large. "I'm not good at remembering names, so please forgive me if I have to ask you to remind me..."
They smile at me, understanding that I'm overwhelmed. Bakugo is the only one who seems uninterested as he stalks off to his room. I'm grateful that he's leaving me alone. I've had enough of his attention for today.
The big guy named Sato comes out of the kitchen holding a plate of what I assume is some kind of cake. "Yo, I'm trying this new recipe if you want to try it," he smiles warmly.
"Heck yeah!" The girls giggle. I politely shake my head. The poor boy looks disappointed but Mina takes a slice, shoving it in my mouth.
"Oh, come on, don't be like that," she chirps. "Sato is really good at cooking and baking stuff. Trust me, you don't wanna miss a single bite of it!"
"Mmmph!" I protest as she force feeds me, but it's too late to fight back. I chew thoughtfully for a second before I light up. This is without a doubt the most delicious thing I have ever tasted. Mina wasn't kidding. I will never doubt this girl's judgment again.
I hum happily and sway from side to side as I finish the treat. Sato blushes and seems proud of himself. When my mouth is empty, I look at him with wide eyes. "This is soooo good! Will you teach me how to make this sometime?"
His face turns an even deeper shade of red at my request. "Sure, I can teach you all kinds of recipes if you want."
My mom wasn't fond of cooking, so I'm not used to eating good, home-cooked food. And this boy is offering to teach me? I like this class already.
Iida smiles as he asks me if I'm going to stay for dinner. I would be crazy to say no and go back to the teacher's dorms so early, so I accept without hesitation. I hope the teachers don't expect me to come back yet. For the first time in my life, I feel like I belong. There is no way I am going back to the miserable life of a villain.
