The next day dawned, casting a pale light over the school grounds. Several figures stood atop the weathered rooftop, their silhouettes etched against the morning sky. Umemiya, the enigmatic botanist, tended to his plants nearby, seemingly lost in thought. You sat on the bench, your gaze distant as you stared into the horizon."Y/n," Umemiya's voice cut through the silence, pulling your attention away from the clouds. He walked over, worry etched on his face. "Show me the photos," he said, extending his hand. You had just explained to everyone what had happened the previous day. You handed him the envelope, and Umemiya's eyes darkened slightly as he studied the images.
"Guys, give me and Y/n some space, please," Umemiya instructed, and the rest of the boys moved to the other side of the rooftop, leaving them alone. Umemiya knelt in front of you, gently taking your hand. "Do you feel safe with Sakura?" he asked quietly. You glanced over at Sakura. You nodded, your voice barely a whisper. "You're worried about the others too, aren't you?" Umemiya smiled at you. "I don't want anyone targeting them either."
As you and Umemiya conversed, Sakura, Suo, Kiryu, and Nirei stood together, wondering what Umemiya was saying. "I'll look into this for you, okay?" Umemiya reassured you. You nodded, grateful for his support. "And I'll stay with Kotoha, so you stay with Sakura and the rest," he added.
"But I don't know where this person is or who they are," Your voice cracked. "All these photos of me..." You closed your eyes, feeling overwhelmed. Umemiya wrapped his arms around you. "Shush...you're stronger than this, Y/n. You know we're all right by your side," he murmured, gently stroking your hair. "Kaji is doing patrols today, so I'll explain the situation to him. He can keep an eye out for suspicious activity."
You looked up at him, smiling weakly. "Thank you. You've always watched over me since I came here. I really do appreciate it." Umemiya patted your head. "You and Kotoha are like my little sisters. Of course, I'm going to look after you both."
...
You returned to the boys waiting on the other side. You sat down beside Kiryu on the bench. "Those photos are creepy, but we're with you, Y/n," Kiryu mumbled. "So can you please smile for me? If you don't, I'll tickle you." You managed a weak smile.
"If you tickle me, I'll push you off the building. Don't ever tickle me," You threatened playfully, Kiryu giggled, scooting away from you, pretending to be scared.
Suo chimed in. "We were thinking about something. Since you're not safe, maybe we should stick together. We decided to move in with you and Sakura-kun." Sakura's mouth dropped. "W-What?! We never said that! And there's hardly any room for all five of us!" Kiryu chuckled. "Oh Sakura-chan, I assure you, we won't take up much space. We'll just sleep in the corner." Kiryu snorted
"It's not a bad idea," Nirei agreed. "This way, Y/n-San will be under our protection all the time." Suo nodded. "You can't be the only one doing the protecting, Sakura." Suo teased, and Sakura blushed. As the boys laughed, you sat in silence. Tears welled up. "I hate you all..." You whispered between sniffles. Suo gently patted your head, chuckling.
