I scented it the moment I stepped in that room, spring blossom and for the first time since I met Nell, my wolf confirmed it for me. MATE. Vince surprised me with how calm he was staying although I could see that he had a hard time dealing with this. But so am I. Her scent calmed me down— for now.

Now that David was awake, and he told us what happened, we went with a group back to the place where she disappeared. They had cleaned the road, and it was like nothing had happened here, no more blood or bodies to be seen but the scent was still there. I had seen the pictures that Doris sent to Vince, it was a blood bad. And very faint but it was there — spring blossom. Shifting in my wolf I followed her scent, and we ended up in front of a house. Everyone shifted back and pulled some clothes on.

"That's Izzy her parents' house," Naomi said.

"Let's pay them a visit," Vince growled marching towards the front door, while he yelled, "I know you are in there! I can hear your fucking heartbeat." But nothing happened, besides that the heartbeats increased. I think I even heard someone whimper.

"I'm going in from the back," Samuel said walking around the house followed by Duncan and John. 5 minutes later Samuel let us in.

"They are scared," he whispered while we followed him in towards two blond girls. They were holding on to each other and visibly trembling with fear.

"Izzy's sisters?" Naomi asked Samuel.

"Yeah," he squatted down in front of them. I think the youngest must be around 12 years old, the oldest maybe 15 years old. "Hey Betty and Lottie, we aren't going to hurt you two. But your family took away someone from us."

"They took Nelly?" the youngest cried out looking up at Samuel.

"Yeah, and we think that they are going to hurt her."

The oldest frowned and looked down, "we are a family of hunters, always have been. Izzy and Jacob are taking over from their fathers soon and—"

"Was David really her mate?" Samuel interrupts her.

"Yes, daddy always hoped that one of us would turn out to be a mate to one off you. We were always camping around wolfpacks. And then David met Izzy. Father was euphoric, it was just like he wanted."

"I hate hunters," Vince muttered.

"I don't want to be a hunter," they youngest said looking at Vince. "My best friend is a wolf, I don't want to kill him," she sniffed shaking her head.

"Are the two of you alone here?" I asked.

"Mommy is upstairs, but we are afraid to go there. Daddy was very mad at her," she whispered.

Angeline comes forward, squatting down in front of them, "hey Betty and Lottie, I'm Angeline. What if we make a bag for the two of you and you come with us to the pack? I'm sure you both are tired?"
