7 days passed by and Nell her scent stayed. We were worried about her, once Shawn arrived, I took him with me to see her. At first, she was excited to see what Doctor Tobias would find out. But now 7 days later she is getting frustrated, sad and angry at her mom for all the secrets. Maybe she wouldn't be like this if her mother would communicate with her. She was on the verge of breaking down and I didn't knew how I could help her.
I sneaked behind the hospital when I heard someone come closer at a fast speed. I hadn't the time to look up when I was smacked against the brick wall of the hospital behind me.
"Aww!" I exclaimed.
"Where is she?" Luke snarled into my face.
"Luke, calm down man. Who is she?" I asked trying to break free.
"Do not play with me Max! Nell, I can scent her all over you." He took a deep sniff, "spring, —" he mumbled and closed his eyes.
"How do you know that her scent is spring?" I asked confused about that. Julia told me that she and Doctor Tobias were the only ones that scented it.
"That isn't your problem, now where is she?" He snarled.
"Why do you care?" I snapped back, fed up with his attitude. Cousin or not, Alpha or not, no need to be in my face like that.
"Because—" he started but stopped talking and closed his eyes. He let out a shaky breath and let me go and took a step away from me. "Sorry Max, I don't know what came over me."
"It's fine, I don't really understand your reaction, but I accept you apology."
"I'm worried Max, where is she really? What is going on?" I looked in his green eyes and for the first time I noticed how much he cared for her and how worried he really was, his wolf flashed in his eyes for a moment.
I nodded, "follow me, but don't tell anyone. Or not yet at least." He nodded and I walked back towards the room and knocked on the door, "it's Max." Julia opened it and with a growl Luke pushed me out of the way and walked over to the bed.
"Luke," Nell exclaimed opening her arms to hug him. He picked her up and placed her in his lap, wrapping his arms around her. He kissed her on the head, while she wrapped her arms around his waist. He rubbed her back, calming her down.
"I'm scared Luke," she whispered against his chest.
"I'm here love, nothing is going to happen to you," he whispered back.
"Did I missed something? Are they mates?" Doctor Tobias asked us softly and Julia and I shook our heads, "no, they aren't."
"Strange," he mumbled. "They sure are behaving like mates."
It's not the first time that I have seen Luke with Nell, but not like this. And yes, he was always looking around for her, but not like this. I have never seen my cousin like this with a girl. I could feel his love for her, his concern about her. Seeing him now with her it becomes clear why he tried to push her away. He is falling for her, if he hasn't already. And he is scared to hurt her when his fated mate turns up. I understand why he did what he did after their kiss, I would have done probably the same.
