𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭 ʲᵒʰⁿⁿⁱᵉ ᵍᵘⁱˡᵇᵉʳᵗ

Aᴛᴛᴀᴄᴋ

I woke up around 4 pm, not intentionally. Johnnie and I had stayed up all night talking. We realized that we didn't know each other that well, not the little things about each other.

I learned that Johnnie makes music, and good music at that. He learned about my life at university and my home life. I also spoke to Colby.

I crawled out of bed and headed to the kitchen, where Sam, Colby, Jake, Johnnie, and Tara were all seated at the table, deep in discussion. They fell silent as I walked in.

"Morning, Vee," Johnnie said, motioning for me to sit next to him.

"What were you guys gossiping about?" I joked, taking the spare seat beside Johnnie. They all looked emotionless and did not react whatsoever.

I cleared my throat awkwardly as Johnnie spoke up, breaking the torturing silence.

"So, I don't think it's fair to keep this a secret from you since it's going to impact you more than us", Johnnie spoke, avoiding eye contact with me.

I gave him a confused look and glanced across the table; everyone was looking at the table and not communicating with each other.

"The Salvator coven has declared an attack against our coven. It's not a threat to us as we're in with the higher-ups. But you see, Violet, if they attack us, your brothers, I mean...We will have to kill them unless they kill us first"

It felt like a punch to the gut. I already knew my father had put them up to this, my brothers never had a violent nature.

Especially, Tate refused to drink human blood and taught himself to survive on animal blood just so he did not have to hurt anyone. He was so sweet and kind.

"That's not fair, Johnnie; they have no choice. This is my father's doing..." I finally said, my voice cracking. He looked down, and for the first time, he showed emotion.

"There's no other way, Vee...We have to protect ourselves..." He put his arm around me, and I sunk into his shoulder.

"Just be easy on them, please?" I asked in desperation, he nodded as I hugged him tighter.

But for some reason, I felt as if Johnnie wasn't telling the truth.
