Virat was driving the car towards the new farmhouse he had purchased from his own company. The famhouse was his company's project itself and Virat purchased it from his own company. The farmhouse was located in the outskirts of the city amidst a secluded but beautiful landscape. The farhouse was surrounded with acres of lush greenery that was a sight to behold. There were 5 farmhouses spread on that property. The property was so big that each farmhouse was distanced 5 kms from each other, allowing complete privacy to the inhabitants. It was a newly completed project and Virat was the first owner of one of the five farmhouses. Although, the property was in the outskirts, it was at most a 30 minutes drive from the city. People could go there to relax, away from the hustle bustle of the city and still not be very far from the city.
As the car entered the forestry, Virat looked over at the passenger seat. Amruta was blissfully asleep. They got married in the Ahuja's home today. It was an extremely private affair. Full care had been taken to ensure the news did not leak. Only both familes and a few others knew about this. It was Amruta's request to keep it like that. As per Guruji's suggestion, it was mandatory to get married as per traditional rituals and stay together for atleast 5 months but it was not an issue if the marriage is a secret. Virat's mind went back to when he saw her for the first time that day. She was dressed in a red saree and wore light jewellery. She looked beautiful. For a moment, he had forgotten the all the underlying tensions and absurdity behind the marriage.
As Virat parked in the driveway of the farmhouse, he took a minute to take in the scenic beauty. It was dusk and the sun was setting illuminating the sky in a beautiful collusion of red, yellow and orange. The earth held greenery coupled with beautiful colors of flowers. It was a very relaxing sight. He had hoped that Amruta would wake up when the car stopped. But, she was still sound asleep. Virat nudged her arms a little and said, "Banker, we have reached." Amruta did not respond at all. He pushed her a little too but she did not wake up. So, Virat blasted his car radio on full volume and Amruta woke up with a start. She let out a low scream and yelled at Virat.
Amruta's P.O.V.
"What the hell?", I shouted without realising where I was. It took me a few seconds to take in my surroundings. I remembered I was married now, to Virat Sir. Virat Singh Ahuja. Even thinkng about that made me shiver a little. The whole thing felt so surreal.
"What? I did not know how to wake you up. You are such a Kumbhkaran. We have reached."
I was mesmerized by the beauty that streaked all around me. The greenery all around was a rare sight for people living in Gurugram. I got down of the car to take in the view properly. The farmhouse itself was huge and beautifully structured. It was a two floor accomodation that came with a pool and steam bath facility. I could easily spend 5 months here. What a perfect place to do the things that I love- read and write.
"Let's go?", Virat sir asked.
I followed him into the house. All our luggage was already sent earlier. I just hand my handbag with me. The house was not a typical farmhouse, it was equipped with all modern amenities, furniture & fittings, etc.
Virat Sir showed me my room. It was on the first floor and right next to his room. There were two rooms on the ground floor as well. My room was probably larger than our living home back home. My clothes were neatly arranged in the cupboard already and there was a beautiful circular book shelf attached to the wall. I was surprised to see books from my favorite authors placed in it. I was just basking in the beauty of the room, when my eyes fell on my reflection on the mirror. The vermillion shone brightly on my forehead. My hand went automatically to touch the red powder that holds immense value in our culture. I knew it was weird but when Virat Sir applied the vemillion on my forehead, I was taken aback by the sheer surge of emotions I had in me. For a few seconds there, I forgot the reality of this marriage. Just for those few seconds, everything felt so real, like I was getting married in the actual sense of the word. I was overwhelmed with emotions. I shook away those thoughts and went to take a shower.
