AVANI POV

I never...knew a day like this existed. I wish someone wakes me up from this dreadful and tragic dream.

He was sleeping in front of me , we're in the Ambulance, heading towards somewhere, perhaps a place which is unaware for me.

I remember, how Akash hates being seated at one place, he loves to roam around...but it seems he has decided to settle at...one place now...

His face turned purple...it reminded me, how much he hates jamuns which are in purple colour too...

I wanted to touch his face.. but my hands were reluctant. My lips thinned for a while.

"Vadina.. let's go inside..."

Shreyansh spoke out without looking into my eyes, his eyes were blood shot red, he signalled he to get out of the Ambulance.

"What...about...Akash?"

I questioned while my head was throbbing.

I remember...how Akash won the long jump competition held in college. But now, he... couldn't even take a step forward and get out of this.

How can a night swap everything?

He was sleeping on a stretcher, the other men were  dragging it.

I took baby steps, my hair was messed , my melancholic eyes depicted how his absence has left me alone.

From far, I could see his mother coming and the moment she came near, she slowed down and looked at her son, she kept her hands on his eye lids and broke out into silent tears, she moved her hands towards his hands, the hands which used to sometimes feed her food.

She sat down and was hitting her head...I could see Bala's mother helding her arms and was gently rubbing her shoulders.

Akash's mother looked at me she tightened her jaw and held my hair

"Ahhh.....leave..e meee"

I screamed at the top of my lungs , still she didn't leave my hair, her grip grew stronger, I could feel her anger, my hands move involuntarily to release myself.

"How...dare..you kill him? You convinced him to leave this mansion and now he returned with no breathe left on this planet....How ill-fated you turned out to be!!"

My face turned pale and I started taking deep breaths

I couldn't stop howling.

Now I get it, how women get blamed for every minor and major inconvenience in life.

She left me and I lost my balance and fell down.

"Prove me !!! That you are his wife, If you are his wife, you should be known by all his relatives, right? Show me one , atleast one person, who's ready to accept that... They know you and remember you as Akash's wife, I'll accept you and you'll be allowed to attend my son's funeral ...otherwise, I'll kick you out of this house..Go and if you've got guts, prove yourself.."

She said in a harsh language and while pointing towards me.

Somehow, I gathered strength and stood up and walked unevenly and ran towards Bala.

She has grown up now, seems to be way more matured than she was earlier, I expected her to stand with me, the truth.

"Bala...tell her, that..you know me, tell her that ...you are aware that I'm Akash's wife and when you were small, I taught you...please tell her.."

I joined my hands together, she didn't look up, she was acting as if I was invisible.

Her mother came forward and pushed me .

"How...dare you try to manipulate my daughter, you are doing this, because she's innocent and will accept whatever shit you speak out. You're such a third-class person, never have I seen such a lady, get lost...."

Bala's mother warned me, the eyes which earlier had sympathy and love for him, the same eyes hold annoyance and rage.

I got on to the knees and touched her feet, she was trying to get out and then I moved to held Bala's legs too.

I had no clue if I was doing the right thing or not, the only thing I wanted was to be with Akash, till he physical leaves this pathetic world and I would go to any extend to fulfil that.

The moment I realised, neither of them will help me, I got up without any support and looked for Shreyansh, seemed that he has gone out...

My thoughts were interrupted by his mother's voice.

"Enough! Put this gold digger in that room and see that she doesn't come out until the last rites finish , then I myself, will send her to hell."

She signalled to the room which was upstairs.

Few women came and held my arms, I flinched and while words fail to come up from my throat, I somehow started stammering ....and begged her. Apparently, she turned dumb and the latter was put in a room which was as dark as my soul.
