lucille walked through the bustling hallways of her high school, weaving her way through the crowds of students as she made her way to her locker. the sounds of chatter, laughter, and the occasional locker slam filled the air.

as she reached her locker and began to turn the combination lock, she heard a familiar voice behind her.

“good morning beautiful,” edward said, wrapping his arms around her waist and planting a gentle kiss on her cheek.

lucille smiled, turning in his arms to face him. “good morning edward.” she stood on tiptoe and kissed him back, savoring the warmth of his lips against hers.

"i'll see you later,” he said, giving her a wink before he headed down the hallway to meet up with his friends, randy and bob. as soon as edward was out of sight, lucille’s best friends, cherry and marcia, appeared at her side, squealing with excitement.

“oh my gosh lucille! that was so cute!” cherry exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with delight. marcia nodded vigorously. “you two are just perfect together. how long have you been dating now?”

lucille blushed, her smile widening. “almost three years. he’s really sweet, isn’t he?” cherry grinned. “absolutely. i’m so happy for you, lucille. you deserve someone like edward.” “thanks, cherry,” lucille said, feeling a warm glow of happiness.

she glanced at the clock above the lockers. “we should probably get to class. we don’t want to be late.”

the first bell rang just as they made their way down the hallway, joining the flow of students heading to their respective classes. cherry and lucille had their first period together, so they walked side by side, chatting and laughing.

“so, what happened last night after the drive-in?” cherry asked, lowering her voice to a conspiratorial whisper.

lucille smiled. “oh my god, so edward surprised me by taking me out to a late dinner. it really helped me calm down after the whole drive-in thing .”

cherry’s eyes widened in surprise. lucille sighed. “i just hope i don’t run into dallas winston again or else.”

they reached their classroom and took their seats, continuing to gossip in hushed tones until the teacher called the class to order.

the rest of the morning passed uneventfully, with lucille focusing on her lessons and enjoying the occasional whispered conversation with her friends.

at lunchtime, the three friends sat together in the cafeteria, chatting animatedly about everything from homework to weekend plans.

lucille felt a sense of normalcy returning, the earlier anxiety about dallas fading into the background as she laughed and talked with cherry and marcia.

the afternoon classes went smoothly, and before she knew it, the final bell of the day rang, signaling the end of school. lucille packed up her books and headed outside to wait for cherry and marcia by the front steps.
